Will the story of this man approximate the fable we have inherited of Jesus?
I think there is a good chance, given the historical criteria of Jesus fits this mans almost to a 'T' ~ fighting against the empire, justified by religion, followers who 'preach the gospel' in many various places, may well be martyred, doing the will of God.......etc etc
In 2,000 years, this man may have the same reputation Jesus has now.

no, actually, bin Laden hasn't killed anyone personally, he just planned some bad stuff in which a lot of people were killed. And Jesus never killed anyone personally, but a lot of people have killed a lot more people in his name.

charles manson supposedly never killed anyone either. but you think theyre gonna let him outa the joint? that dude youre talkin about might have alot of good points, and his heart may have started in the right place. but he is not a good man. he is swimming up stream. he is not wise at all. is that any reason for ol W to kill 100,000 people who had nothing to do with anything? is that a good reason to let 2000 americans die fighting two unwinnable wars? no all htat is bullshit. a real man realizes the nature of the world he lives in, and protects himself and his family from being affected by it. that picture you put up is no picture of a savior. there is no right or wrong here, there is no lesser of two evils. its a mind fuck. him and bushy are probably at a strip club in florida right now, tryin to buy some russian dancer for the night. or lookin at a chess board tryin to figure out which pawn to kill off. dont be a part of that game. grow up. you cant change the world, you can only change your socks.

wfs, i believe that mrree was trying to make a point about christ's character, and how much we really know about the origins of christianity, rather than glorify bin laden. it's an interesting consideration.

i think mr bin ladin and jesus had a very different approach, thier followers may have a similar approach, but the actual men . . . . very different approach. if he were to put a picture of gahndi up there, i might buy it. if he were to compare bin laden to king David . .. . maybe. but to compare those two i happen to find insulting. and i fucking hate americans more that anyone. but i still love jesus.

    Indeed nmhg
I think the followers of binLaden could do something akin to what the followers of Jesus have done fabricating truth and history. If christians can, so can binLaden's followers. Christianity shows there are plenty of people silly enough to believe any unsubstantiated myth. That makes binLaden a prime candidate for similar, given circumstances.
It's not simply a matter of agree/disagree, it's matter of 'this could happen in exactly the same way.'
There is good documentation that portrays early christian presbyters and followers as superstitious, volatile, and unintelligent. About the same as binLaden's followers now. So, like making a cake, the ingredients are about right.
