I've been having a lot of neck problems lately. I have a great special friend who is a massage therapist and has suggested that the problem might come from my dreads weighing down my head!

Is anyone else having neck problems???

    Any suggestions?

I have known some ones and ones with dreads that have been sooo thick and heavy that they have built very large muscles in the back of their neck. Yours aren't that big yet, but perhaps the muscle growth is slight and you are sensitive.

They are heavier than regular hair because 1) you don't get rid of all that excess hair every time you brush, comb, or shower and 2) when your dreads are wet they hold water like a sponge and take a long time to dry. Now imagine 8" thick dreads down your back, how much water they hold, etc. Pretty heavy.

Haha...I know how you feel. When I wash my hair, and lean my head back in the shower, I feel like I'm gonna topple over...haha. I kinda like it though...builds strong neck muscles...:) lol.

hehe my dreads arent long enough to give me neck problems, however i used to have masive extensions of acrylic hair when i was 16 and man did they hurt! i used to get serious headaches cos the girls who put them in had done it so tight and it was pulling on my scalp.

cos i used to have extentions and wool wraps a lot i think my neck muscles are pretty strong, but its a perfectly concevable idea that it could be your dreads.

My dreads arent long enough either. I doubt that with the length yours are that it is the root of the problem. But I dunno, it is possible. Why dont you get your friend to hook you up with some neck massages? I will pray for the healing of your neck!
