I would imagine mixing these drugs would increase the sedative effect of both of them. You may want to lessen the dose of each, if you absolutely want to take them together.

weirdly enough i noticed the more antihistimines i take the less sedated i get, example 100mg of DPH puts me to sleep where as 300mg makes me trip and i have a hard time falling alseep, i wouldnt mix anything with ambein anyway sleep aid have a rep. for not mixing well.

    ambien was crazy.
i didnt take my antihistimine that day.
i took 20 mg of ambien
at first my vision got a little cloudy. and i could sorta make stuff on the walls swirl.
and when i tied to walk i ran into everything.
i was watching a movie and then all of the sudden the movie was over and it was an hour and a half later and thats all i remember

You can take Ambien with antihistamines. Preferably, you should use the non-sedating antihistamines, such as Claritin (loratadine) or Allegra (fexofenadine). Some antihistamines are only slightly sedating, such as Chlor-Trimeton (chlorpheniramine) or Zyrtec (ceterizine). Very sedating antihistamines, such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine), "nite-time" cold meds with doxylamine (Nyquil, etc), Tavist (clemastine), or Actifed (tripolidine) would be the least preferable. They would probably cause a hangover effect when combined with Ambien. They would still be okay, though, if you are an otherwise healthy individual, and not on any other meds.
