Laws hun. You know that the first Amendment gives us that live in America right to free speech... that meas you can expression your opinion. however if you try to hit someone or what not, there are laws against that.

im sorry, where did this 'dreaming' and 'murder' stuff come from? And you know, sometimes a hurtful opinion can be characterized by the term "sucker punch".

 

I picked 2 words that to me signified how different opinion and punch were. if you didnt catch it I am sorry.

 

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and the right to speak it. But no one has a right to hit another. The difference is this. With an opinion, unless you're a pussy, words don't hurt. In a sense, it is up to the individual whether they will be hurt (offended) or not. With a punch, there is no decision, it hurts no matter what. You can't decide whether to let your nose bleed or not. And it isn't right for another to make such decisions for you.


The basic rule is this: do whatever you want, but harm no one or their property. Words can hurt feelings, I suppose, but they don't have to. Besides, hurt feelings doesn't compare to hurt bodies in that hurt bodies can literally kill a person, but hurt feelings can't.

We do have harrassment laws, though, with regards to verbal abuse, so there are limits. You also can't shout "fire" in a crowded theater, because the panic can be dangerous.

 

I feel your pain colours. The worlds full of loud mouthed shit talking assholes trying to start a fight and the thing that makes me crazy is they always have their cellphones in their hand ready to call 911 if somebody takes them up on it.

Somebody can verbally abuse you for months and get away with it but slap him one time....

 

I think its more that, the world does not work based on opinion. Something work and somethings dont. So if your opinion expresses something that doesn't work than you make a fool of yourself. So you should say certain things, really

colour I totally want to agree with you because I think that people should think before they say and that kind words are better said then mean ones but......... if we don't toughen up a bit we are in for even more trouble....

there is so much tension in the air over the smallest thing and then it all gets blown way out of perportion (sp?) and if we learned how to share our opinions and believes in a nonviolent way then there would be more acceptance and maybe more understanding............ now for those who believe in violence and that such nonsense I can only hope that it wears off in time... that last part was dumb .... but see thats my right to be able to say silly stupid or outragous stuff ...... use it to your advantage
