It looks like Blair will win. I must say to all you British I am disappointed. I was amazed and happy with the general UK public opinion all throughout the iraq war, you guys seem to be antiwar.

However, this week has been interesting. With the leak of that document that says Bush and Blair knew the war was illegal and went ahead with it anyway.

My hero is daniel ellsberg, a man who worked for the gov't here in america during the vietnam war, and risked his life and reputation by making available through leaks in 1971 to newspapers, documents that clearly showed the american people were lied to systematically all thoughout the war. His document leaks I would argue are responsible in some small part for the ending of the vietnam war. he even said he had hoped he had leaked the things sooner to save more lives

Anyways, I have been maintaining that what we may need to stop this war, is for people on the inside, officials, military officers etc... to release secret documents. This would in my mind awaken the sleeping american public.

Well, seems like my wish came true, the document leaked the other day, shows bush is guilty of at least high crimes and misdemenors and so is blair and all the others mentioned in the report.

What I dont get, is why no one is covering this story, its not in the paper or on the news. This is a document that could stop the war, and bring our brothers and sisters home and no one is saying anything about it.

To get back to my main point, the UK public relelected blair! It makes no sense, you guys just like us were lied to! What the heck is going on around here!

mainstream media wont promote such info because it is owned by corporations who profit from the established order of things and serve the interests of maintaining control of the broader public's perceptions so they don't begin to scrutinise the reality of wholesale criminality generally accepted as legitimate government.

The uprising would invariably turn its focus to the fact that the press and media, controlled by a mere few major corporations, is anything but "free".

I suggest you read "manufacturing consent" and youll gain a clearer perspective of the conformist propaganda our media regularly sells to the public as "news".

I'd like to think the whole Bush & Blair campaign and counting of the votes and everything was one big conspiracy and that is was totally rigged etc etc..

.. but maybe we just have to face the fact that there are a LOT of dumbfucks out there who actually go and vote for them.

Btw.. the Blair thing is probably genuine, since the exit-polls predicted this already.. I think in the US Kerry was winning according to those polls, which is a bit weird seeing the outcome.

I'm not too up on UK politics, but would the Tories have been any better than the Labor Party and Blair?

It's not like they had much of a choice.

Blair is probably gone, or at least neutered, despite the Labour Party victory. Although they're still the majority, Labour lost a lot of seats, and popular opinion even within the Labour Party is that Blair should go, and be replaced by Gordon Brown.

To be honest, us Brits had no real other alternative. The real opposition were the Conservatives who are similar to the American Republicans who recentely stated they would have invaded Iraq as well even knowing they had no Weapons of Mass Destruction, so what do we do, go for Blair, whose home policies are a lot better or a right wing xenophobic party?

we pretty much had the choice between new labour (blair et al), some of whom are a bit left-of-centre, and the conservatives (tories) who are all right wing. voting liberal democrat, in some places, just splits the anti-tory vote. I hate this kind of tactical voting, and I would have voted lib dem (too young to vote), but many people voted tactically, so labour got back in. i am quite relieved it wasn't the tories, and happy that the lib dems got a bigger minority and can therefore challenge labour more. and labour can't just do what they want now - there's too few of them. anyway, blair's leaving soon, and gordon brown, who's a bit better, will replace him.
