    Hi all,
I'm having trouble from my home with Yahoo email. It started when we first got cable internet, my roommate was not able to check her email from her yahoo account here at the apartment, but everywhere else she could. We called Comcast who told us that it was a Yahoo problem who told us it was a Comcast problem. Regardless, if we just put it back to dial up, she can check it. My email was fine except that my address book would not come up, when I clicked on it.

To clarify, the page never fully loads, just keeps saying that it is opening page. But if you click stop and go back to yahoo, she is logged in with her screen name, but still cannot check email. Can do everything else, but cannot check email. Just brings up a blank white page and keeps acting like it is opening it, but never does. If you let it go, it takes about 10 minutes, it will say "Cannot find Server" or "Page cannot be displayed".

Well, this has been going on for about 4 months now. I have 3 yahoo email accounts and I have never had any problems except for the address book not loading when I'm sending an email. My boyfriend has one Yahoo account and he doesn't have any problems here.

Again this is only happening in our apartment, at work or the university we are all fine to check mail and never have problems if we go back to dial up, but if I'm paying for cable I want to use it. I have tried to explain this to Comcast like 4 times and they insist that it isn't a problem through them. Now my accounts (all 3 of them) are doing what my roommate's does, yet my boyfriend's is still fine.

Does anyone know what this could be from or how I can get comcast to listen to me? Jer is a computer person, so use whatever terms you have to and I'll just get him to read this. He should know what you are talking about.

Thanks so much for any help you could provide, I really appreciate it. :)

    Jen

If comcast are giving you a real 'net connection, then the problem is either on your box or with yahoo. If you can get access to the WWW (which you clearly can), then you can access any WWW page. Comcast may be doing something funky with your connection, but I can't think what. I take it you're all using the same computer?

the real solution, of course, is not to use useless toy webmail accounts like yahoo! if you want a gmail invite, just ask and i'll hit you up.

These aren't our real email accounts. Or at least mine is only for my yahoo groups and my Weight Watchers group (I'm a leader). I don't really want all of that junk coming to my real email or to my school email. I have a domain though, so its not a big deal to just create some more accounts.

But to answer your question, no we are not all using the same computer. We have a network and have tried all 3 computers, including the laptop. My boyfriend works on computers for a living and the only thing he could come up with is because we live in an apartment and our neighbors more than likely also have comcast that is what is causing the problem. He tried everything else.

Like I said, I don't see how it can be problem with Yahoo, as my email works fine when I am on yahoo from work, and from the university. Just not at home. And it works fine when we switch back to dial up, just not when using cable. And it doesn't make sense that my roommate has had this problem the entire time, and now all of a sudden I have that problem when I never had, and my boyfriend doesn't have the problem at all. They are all yahoo accounts.

I just wish I knew the problem. I have a feeling that comcast is doing something shady (considering the idiots said we weren't signed up for 3 months and we obviously had an internet connection). I know the problem is with Comcast, I just don't know what exactly and I've tried to explain this to them many times, and they insist that it is Yahoo being slow and nothing to do with them. It just pisses me off that I'm paying for cable internet and it doesn't even work right. GRRR!

LOL, did you live in my apartment? We had comcast at my mom's house too and didn't have this problem. It has something to do with either this apartment building, or the fact that comcast is a bunch of idiots who didn't even have us set up in the system for 3 months, then all of a sudden cut our connection off, and when I called they said, oh we didn't have you set up, you weren't paying us, oppss. ok we fix. Now all of a sudden this. And seemingly for no reason. I wish we had DSL here, but I live out in the boonies. :( Can't wait to move.
