I was just wondering where I might be able to get some chape fabric here? I found some at walmart, but nothing that I really liked and it was pretty pricey. I was looking at Value Village for bed sheets and stuff, but couldn't really find anything. Does anyone know of some other stores that I should check out?
I get most of my fabric from Wal Mart or Fabricland. If you sign up for a Fabricland membership, you get great deals and sales. The only cheap fabric I've been able to find is the basic broadcloth in solid colours for about $3.00 a meter. The cool fabrics are usually at least $6.00 a meter.
A Fabricland sale is better than Walmart any day. Check www.fabricland.ca for a sale flyer where you live. They are always having buy 1m get 1m(or 2m or 3m) free.
I like Bouclair, but their system of piling 500 bolts of fabric on each table annoys me. It's hard to find anything you want if you're looking for a particular fabric.
Around here there are a lot of East Indian fabric stores, and they seem to carry a good selection, and have good prices. I don't know if you have a large Sikh population where you are, but if you do, check out some of their fabric stores. some of the fabrics I have seen in them are very beautiful.
Thanx for your replies! Unfourtenately (sp?), we don't have a fabricland where I live. blah. I've got another question, though. I'm still really new to this sewing stuff, so excuse the "dumbness.":& When I was at wal mart looking at the fabrics the other day, they had little price tags on the top of the cardboard thing that they were wrapped around. Is that the price for the whole thing, or just per meter?
Odd that there isn't a Fabricland in Red Deer. There are (were) 2 in Saskatoon. I always thought Red Deer was a large city (at least by SK standards). Mmm. Guess my method of gauging population density by number of Fabriclands in any given area is flawed!
icedteapriestess-I really don't think that there's one here. But I might be wrong. Red Deer is pretty big, but it's also pretty small....if that makes any sence at all. Compared to Edmonton and Calgary, it's really really small. I guess that I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled.
If you live on the east coast, there's a store over here called "Atlantic Fabrics", at least in Nova Scotia. Not sure about New Brunswick or P.E.I. But they have big beautiful stores filled with lovely fabric. Bright Blessings! Aphrodite Pretty
