There is a national no-call list now. If you search for it on Google you should be able to find it and register. We still get the occasional call but it has been a big help. Also, some states have their own no-call lists. I know that NY has one and maybe some other states. And if you get on the list and a solicitor calls you, you can report them and they get fined. Keep in mind however that the no-call list does not include charities and non-profit orgs. Good luck, I know your frustration!
to clear off lists in the US, go to the Direst Marketing Association's pages. http://www.dmaconsumers.org/offmailinglist.html#how more info: What happens after I request name removal? When you register with MPS, your name is placed on a "delete" file which is made available to companies four times a year - January, April, July, and October. Registrants typically notice a decrease in the amount of advertising mail approximately three months after their names are entered into the file. * Will registration with MPS end all advertising mail? No. You will continue to receive mail from companies with which you do business and from charitable or commercial organizations which do not choose to use MPS. In addition, you may continue to receive mail from many local merchants, professional and alumni associations, political candidates and mail addressed to "occupant" or "resident." * Can I request deletion from specific lists through MPS? No. Name removal through MPS is general in nature. You may reduce the solicitations you receive from a specific company by writing directly to that company and asking to be put on the company's in-house suppress file.
