I thought "Songs for the Deaf" was a pretty good album, and was wondering what you guys think of their latest release "Lullabies to Paralyze". I have yet to listen to it.
Every so often a band comes along that sucks on the corporate teet of MTV, yet they seem to not listen to their record execs, and actually make good, talentled, music. Queens of the stone age is one of these bands, along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers... Two bands I have no shame for listening to.
They kick ass, I haven't heard their new album yet though, I'll probably go get it when I can manage to scrounge up enough money to pay for it.
SHit yeah, it's pretty good. THeres a couple of really rocking songs, and some pretty poppy stuff that doesnt suck either. It's pretty mellow in a weird way. it definitely has a feel to it.
I liked them alot more when they were Kyuss, with John Garcia for vocals. I followed him to his side project Unida..... which they've only had one album, but I've heard there are more on the way.
It's alright, sounds about the same as the last one, and al the songs sound quite alike for the most part.. But it's alright.
I just didn't get into it... I've played half of it and we bought it ages ago. Might give it a whirl today - I'm sure it will grow on me like the others did. But I doubt whether anything will compare to the self-titled album.
I just rememberd that Kyuss did an album titled Queens of the Stoneage right before they broke up. That was probably my least favorite one by them.
ive been hearing them since the "Restricted" album and they are great.. i heard a couple of songs from the new album and they sound as the "songs for the deaf" album, but there“s the lack of Oliveri.. they dont sound as heavy as they did... for example in "no one knows"... but i dont care im gonna buy the new cd just to see if im wrong..
Exactly, they'll never match the good old days. The first two albums were awesome, Songs for the Deaf was kinda wanky and their recent one is good without being great. Still an amazing band though, I got a lot of respect for them.. Kyuss are still kings though. And many of the bands to come from Kyuss are just as good as QOTSA in my opinion... I've always had a soft spot for Fu Manchu.
first of all - opium eyes, i heart ur sig. second - omg i love this CD it reminds me of bayou music. and its so mellow and rockin at the same time! great album!
