Have any of you ladies heard that if you wear an excessive amount of makeup, or sleep in it, that wrinkles have a tendency to form faster on your face? This seemed a little odd to me, and I wasn't sure if this was a truthful claim. Does anyone know anything about this? I just don't see how that would work.

i guess if it's some form of makeup that dries the skin, you know, the ones made for oily complexions. i do know that it's bad for your pores and skin to sleep in makeup. it interupts it's natural processes. so you should just wash it off anyway. perhaps all that interference with it's own rejuvenation processes could cause your skin to age prematurely? or maybe the ones who usually sleep in their makeup are the ones too drunk to take it off after partying. and what do most people do when they're partying? inhaling a lot of smoke...lol. i dunno.

I never heard that it causes wrinkles. It's not good for the skin, that's for sure, but I don't see how it would be a direct cause.

It has been the contrary in my mother's case; she has worn liquid foundation nearly every day since she was 20 and she has beautifully unwrinkled skin (probably mostly in part due to the physical barrier the makeup forms against the sun). But she always washes it off at night and wears moisturizer underneath, too. The point of this post? I have not a clue. (that rhymes, by the way)

Well, makeup tends to settle in creases so maybe it accentuates wrinkles? My mom looks really bad at the end of the day when all her makeup is messed up.

I've heard that a light coat of foundation with spf can be good for your skin since it does infact protect you from the sun.

I don't know, but I do know that if I go to bed without taking my make-up off, my skin suffers from the abuse for a few days afterwards. It makes my skin dried out and older looking I think.

This reminded me of a short news story about a cosmetic company deciding to use an order of nuns to test their makeup. When they asked the company "why the nuns?" they said they had such good complexions, and when they asked why that was,the spokesperson said "I suppose it's because they don't normally wear makeup"

hmm.. that's true, nuns usually do have great complexions.. not that I've known all that many or anything! But Faerie, i know what you mean, I don't like to sleep in my makeup either. But sometimes I do have those random nights where I'm just too tired or uh.. drunk to take my makeup off!!

    Doh!what an idiot :D

Well, that just proves foundation wrecks your skin. My mum has never worn any, and she has great unlined skin (she's 70). I hardly ever wear foundation and people say I look 25 (even 21 on a good day!). I'm 33!! :D
