*hugs* Eek that must have been gross. Oh well, can't be helped. Just learn from the mistake and move on. We aren't going to excommunicate you or anything.
that sucks but don't freak out too much it was an accident. You can do very little to completely avoid eating some form of animal. We all do it daily.
I hate accidentally buing a vegan pizza, all that crust with nothing else on it.......but I am sorry you made that mistake. I am not trying to sway any veggies back to the darkside, I am just embracing the darkside.
Meh. Sh-t happens. It's the only fact of life that applies in every single scenario. Don't worry, you can't change it, but you can accept it and move on. And Sage-Phoenix is right: We aren't going to excommunicate you! It's not like we're that guy who excommunicated people from his church because they didn't support Bush ...
It's happend to me before. I remember when I used to live with a family of carnivores. THEY WOULD TRY TO SNEAK MEAT INTO MY FOOD! We had perogies once and they tasted a little different. Well, after eating about four of them they told me that it was chesse and bacon! So don't feel too bad about it. Have a great day everyone!
it was bound to happen sooner or later. i'd imagine at least once in every veggie's life, s/he accidently eats meat (and not just an animal product or by product, but meat) even if it's just a restaurant mix-up or absent-mindedly grabbing the wrong jar. usually after that happens, we get better at checking lables, or it makes our attention more accute. at least you found out and didn't keep eating them and buy more. i'm sorry it took six of 'em to find out, but at least you know what package to avoid, or check more closely. reading lables is good all around, you'd be surprised how much stuff has chicken stock or beef flavoring. if you don't like to check lables real closely, then you could try shopping at a health food store, like a trader joes.
first of all,im a vegetarian as the tital says so its ok for me to eat dairy just not meat vegans dont eat dairy and meat and i dont think there was actually a whole lot of meat or how real the meat was in them which is why i didnt notice them and i was at work and really hungry to slow down before i realized my disgustihng mistake and learned an unforutate lesson -amy
I had a restaurant mix up in February, so I really feel for you. You'd think that when a person orders the vegetarian eggroll noodle bowl that maybe, just maybe, pork will NOT do? one bite and the grease gave it away. I'd never tasted anthing like that...and hopefully never will again. So they send out another....soaked in fish sauce...sigh. That I could smell. I gave up at that point. The waiter got huffy since the other person who ordered a veggie bowl was eating fish sauce. Yeah, and he ordered a chicken appetizer...so? I found a new Vietnamese place that does spring rolls and a veggie sauce! yay! There are vegie brands of "bites," if you look around. Check the wrapper ingredients, too. Often you'll find lard in store brands...like choc cake mix (why?)
That's really lousy service, or someone who just doesn't understand how many different people order vegetarian for different reasons; I order veggie dishes sometimes 'cause I like them (just like I may order any other menu item), but I absolutely not a vegetarian. One of my veggie colleagues eats fish, is a 'land-animal only' veggie. Maybe they never really bothered to find out what 'vegetarian' means, and it can be a bit confusing since there are quite a few people who call themselves vegetarian and eat fish (or even chicken, too). But working in the food business, I think they should err on the non-meat side... or when in doubt whether veggie means 'no animal products' or 'no land animal', ASK! That's what my friends do when they cook a meal for veggie friends...
Don't want to burst your bubble or anything but normal cheese has animal by-products as well.. it's not just dairy. It's true that vegans don't eat cheese at all because of the dairy products, but a lot of vegetarians don't eat the regular cheese either but buy 'vegetarian cheese' instead, which is made from nothing but dairy products, so no animal-by-products.
I have been vegetarian for about four months, just went vegan... Honestly I have to say this.... It sucks if for some reason you accidentally eat meat. For whatever reason. I'm very kind to the "carnivores" in my house and make no attempt to try to influence them. And they are all tolerant of my eating habits. Except for one: My bro Dan, who simply likes to be an asshole. He's a racist and a conservative who likes killing small animals with a bb guns. ANYWAY... He puts meat in my food to piss me off. The couple times I actually ate the meat though, not realizing that, I do not feel bad about. Why? Dude, I made a mistake. Everybody does. I can't go on with my life if I got all depressed over it. I mean, I know it sucks but I have to think about what is important.
Man that's just screwed up. Usually I take it easy on carnivores, because it's easy to slip up if you're not thinking. Once my aunt went out of her way to cook me a veggie stew: peas, tomatoes, bell peppers, squash ...and a big hambone for flavor. Bless her Southern heart!
