oh for crying out loud! it never ceases to amaze me the stupidity that occurs in the name of "consciousness expansion" "shamanism" and "new age spirituality". you may walk between the worlds, but you still have to live and function in this one!

*sigh* i feel for you, I hope things get better. My mom is the same way except she has cellulitis and doesn't do anything for herself ever. Her last cellulitis infection was last summer. She was getting ready for work and was really sick. She had a high fever and started becoming irrational (this is how my little brother told it, I wasn't living with them at the time). She drove herself to the hospital like that, out of it and when she got their they told her if she waited a little bit more she might have died and almost had her lower leg amputated. She was basically in and out of it from the high fever for a day. She had surgery, antibiotics and a week in the hospital. When she came home she bothered with her low salt diet for a week or two and thats all. She skips her pills and doesn't seem to care for herself. :(

Maybe that leg surgery will be a wake-up call for your dad. My grandfather has diabetes, and he is very vigilant. His sister lost both of her legs to the disease before she died and he is terrified of it.

I hope it all goes well.
