Burbot, the church is symbolically refered to as a woman - either a bride or a whore. The one turns to God, the other turns to the world. Freakyjoeman - creative, but negative.
That's sad.... I love it! Brings forth alot of emotion! One of my fav. art-related christian sites: http://www.jrbell.com/home.html It got good wallpaper!
well, for me, one of the reassns i find it more acceptable, is cause you dont acctually see Him, you just see a person who takes the form of Him, we dont know what He loks like, so why are there paintings etc or made up people? thats just my philosphy i like that one of the man praying though, its nice-the sharp contrast of colours and tones
I saw a show on one of the educational channels that was about the face of Christ - why so many of them had so many facial features in common. Also, there is supposed to be an early coin in a British Museum that was found in an earthen jar along with a letter (possibly from Paul). The coin had an etching of Christ's face on one side. The letter described him in detail.
yeah, but for the most part...He is depicted as an Anglo-Saxon, even though he is a Semite [Jew/Arab]
Having red hair myself, what I really like is that so many paintings depict Christ with red hair. Red haired men make better saviors.
Ah, Magdala! You know, even though the Bible had her edited out, I think they missed a spot. That spot speaks volumes. When He came to raise Lazarus, He called secretly for Martha's sister while still some distance from Bethany. John 11:1-30.
