- haha, billy idol was just here a couple weeks ago... I'm hopefully going to see the allman brothers with moe this summer, and hopefully gov't mule as well.
I think these last two generations are fucking stupid. Each generation seems to be more dumbed-down than the previous one. In response to the original post, the 50s probably had the best kids and what not out of all of those... but the 60s had the kewlest, and kewlness is all that matters. :H
The combination of puberty and the opening of "The movement" to the general population was overwhelming. It was 1968. I was in 7th Grade. Bell Bottoms were defining who you were. The very brief window, between 1969 and 1973 was when weed ruled and the corupting influence of cocaine was absent. The police were much more relaxed before widespread cocaine use in the mid 70's The music of my high school years was overwhelming. Dark side of the Moon The Yes Album Master of Reality all those Led Zepplin Albums. King Crimson. Thick as a Brick When you listen to the George Carlin album with the gig Marajuana Swept the Neighborhood, that was it. It went from gang fights to total bliss......... The big rock deaths of the 70's, Janis, Jimi, Pigpen seemed to put a little damper on the party.
Even though i've been around sine 87, i'm going to say that i believe it was the 60's. I say this because i have learned so much about the people during the 60s.
i like the 80's kind of but the seventies were awesome even tho i wasn't alive then and the 60's were totally rockin i hate these new generations (90's, 2000's) because now a days only a few people can make good music actually good music but ew greenday? pukeage!
There's actually a huge shitload of bands that make great music nowadays. I'll give you a short list of a few of my faves... Oasis, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nic Armstrong & The Thieves, Of Montreal, Acid Mothers Temple, The Soundtrack of Our Lives.... if you like them, pm me, I can give you huge lists of similar artists !
Only the last 3 I listed are psychedelia, especially Acid Mothers.. I don't think you'd like them. I could be wrong, though. I do think you should check out The Thieves' latest album The Greatest White Liar... they're awesome.
i'm not a parent, but from a parent's point of view, i think they would choose the 50s because those kids were less rebellious. i would have loved to have lived in the 60s because it just sounded so great, aside from the war and all. the 70s were okay, untill disco. the 80s were weird and the 90s sucked. so yeah. i pick the *~60s~*! peace & love.
But I know what you mean... I'm getting tired of it all and pretty much just listening to Dylan, The Band, Joni, Joan... except for these last few days, obviously. Rock n roll's giving me a headache!
