So, what are your thoughts? I really don't like where I live (Red Deer, Alberta), but I've never lived out side of Alberta. I used to live up near Edmonton in a totally cliquy(sp?) town. I've always loved BC, especially Sicamous in the Okanoagan (sp?). Where do you think that the best palce to live in BC is, too...if you know. I just want somewhere with....well, there's too many things to name. Just good vibes. That's about it. You've got that, and you can go anywhere from there. Thanks for your input!
I live in Ontario, it's got a vibe but Its hard to figure out what kind. I've visited BC and just fell in love, where mountains meet the ocean! How much more could you want.
You guys just haven't been to Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. If you had, you would change your vote in a second! I mean, come on! They have a giant statue of a cartoon porcupine called Quilly Willy! AND there is all the fun inbreeding! Seriously? I think it might be the best place in Saskatchewan if you are looking for friendly neighbours and peace and quiet. If you are in to excitement, you might want to look elsewhere.
I live in FSJ British Columbia, i'd have to say its the shit hole of Canada. My vote goes out to Red Deer Alberta since it's only a 15 min drive from Sylvan Lake and only a 2 hr drive to Edmonton, shopping center for the world.
What hippie in their right mind would want to live in Red Deer? Here's my list of the best places for hippie types (among the major towns and cities) right across Canada: Best Places in B.C.: Victoria/Nanaimo and the islands Vancouver (city not suburbs) Nelson and the Kooteneys Best Places in Alberta: Canmore Edmonton (Strathcona/University area) Banff and Jasper Best Place in Saskatchewan: Saskatoon Best Place in Manitoba: Winnipeg Brandon Best places in Ontario: Downtown Toronto Downtown Ottawa Guelph Kingston Peterborough North Bay Thunder Bay Stratford most cottage country areas Best places in Quebec: Montreal Island Quebec City (old city) Sherbrooke Gatineau Hills Best Places in Atlantic Provinces: Halifax Fredericton Charlottetown St. John's Wolfville Lunenburg Best Places in the Territories Whitehorse Yellowknife Dawson City
Northern Ontario is like touch yourself beautiful. Like The Soo right through to Kenora- sooo nice. Although i'm sure once i go to BC i'll change my mind. All i can tell ya, is that Windsor to Sudbury is a solid crap hole. Except London, and Waterloo (so i've heard) but they're nothing compared to most parts of the country.
Agreed North Ontario is too beautiful. chilling by a fire, playing guitar at a cottage is bliss. It just makes you want to stay forever...mmm I can smell the cottage right now...*drools*
never heard that about northern ontario. I've only been to toronto....and that was quite a few years ago.
I live on the east coast, and I love it, every one is really nice well for the most part, I'd love to live in bc though
I wouldn't want to live in BC. Too many people living in that province... and mountains freak me out.
Have you ever road tripped through BC? there's no onnnnnnnnneeeeeeeee. We still have intact pioneer shacks. The only crowded places are the big cities.
I've only seen along the St Lawrence Sea Way but I had seriously thought of moving to Wa Wa at one time (my dodge the draft plan). I also had some great times in Thunder Bay & absolutle loved the atmosphere of Montreal. I would suspect that once I get my sorry ass to the mountainous areas they will become my favorite places.
Wawa is BEAUTIFUL!!! and Blind River. If you blink, you'll miss it, but Blind River at 6:00am when the sun is just rising, and the dew is setting, and the fog is lifting- That place couldn't have givin me a bigger hard on. By the way, Snow Dancer, you're beautiful.
I have road tripped through BC... and you are right, there are areas that are for the most part devoid of people. But... I was comparing the population density of BC to that of Saskatchewan. Compare the two provinces, and BC suddenly seems overrun with people. You add the number of people in BC to massive-ness of the mountains... and I would freak. I like being able to see the horizon... it's a clausterphobia thing. Crowds make me panic, and mountains really freak me out.
