In what way is opium sold? I mean if you bought it on the street what would it look like? The reason I ask is that someone I know a little said he could get me some. And I've always wanted to try it at least once. But I know there's a lot of fake stuff about. I don't want to waste any money and end up smoking incense all night How can I tell?? Thanks for any help!!!
red rock opium is normally fake it CAN be red though. its mostly black tar from experience, someone once told me they got opium that looked like crack, i dunno, never got it. just smoke a lil bit, if its not obvious your fucked up, its fake. ou dont need to smoke much, if its real, and it should feel all warm and comfy, like painkillers.
A lot of opium sold that looks like black tar is just black tar heroin. You can tell its opium by the smell... or a better word is fragrance. (lol) I don't know exactly how to explain the smell, which kind of sucks... sorry.
it smells GOOD or at least better than heroin. o and you dont get "high" like "weed high" off it, thatd be someone duping you into buying their resin. hahahahah
my poppies produce a bitter smelling sap which is white. when left to dry it becomes dark brown, it can occasionally have a very slight but minimal reddish hue. i have been an avid poppy grower for years and havn't seen much of a variation of this. in my opinion the darker brown it is, the stronger it is. the smell isn't particularly nice, but it is quite distinguishable. if you guys like i could keep ya all posted on their progress this year and show you some real op at the end?
A question for Oblivion: what do you reckon is more convenient, making O out of your poppies or drying the pods? I have grown some poppies in the past, but not that many, and have always just drunk the tea. I also believe it is possible to eat the pods (rather, part of a pod). Isn't making O too wasteful if you have a small crop? I'd be curious to know about your growing experiences. Cheers.
if you have a small crop, then your best bet is to harvest the op by lancing the pod first. you can have 2-3 harvests, not just one, that is a mistake many people make. after the first round of lancing, let the poppy rest for up to a week so the pop has 'healed' itself. it will have brown scars from where it was cut before. then you can go again. this may not be very wise if people can see into your garden. if thats the case then, lance them and collect the milk immediately. then cut them down and make tea from them. you can then dry the harvested opium for another day. tea is best made from fresh 'green' poppies. dont use hot water, use cold as heat depletes the alkaloids in the opium. good luck!
p.s put the heads and stems ( leaves and roots too) into a blender, then drain. again you can do this twice.
Thanks for the info, Oblivion. This is really interesting, so I have a few more questions if you don't mind. In making tea I always used hot water, which is perhaps why it was never really that effective. Also, I always thought it was better to dry the pods before making the tea. So, how many fresh pods would you use for one person (regular, not gyganteum)? 3-5? Would you just blender them, add lemon juice and cold water and then filter them? How long do you let them rest for before filtering? I didn't know you could "harvest" the O twice. Is tea made from poppies you have already extracted the milk from still effective? All I'm asking for, is because different people have different recepies for poppy tea, but it seems you've been enjoying yours for quite a bit...
the tea from heads that have already be lanced arent quite as strong. but considering the amount of opium throughout the entire plant it isnt a vast amount of difference really. the amount of poppies to use is really variable depending on tolerance and intensity of op in the plant. i'll use, say 5 fresh plants at the beginning of harvesting season when my tolerance is low. then really just take it from there. the pulp that is remaining from your first batch can be blended again to make a second. hang on, ive forgotten what else you asked me... silly mare that i am! i shall get back to you!
ok. right, blend approx say10 poppies, stalks and all (roots have almost as much opium as the pod), with approx 1-1 and a half pints of water. (with lemon juice if using or even better ascorbic acid). blend really well. then allow to stand for as long as you can wait! an hour is good. then push it through a sieve. put the pulp aside as you can blend it and soak it again for a second go! hope you enjoy this recipie, its been passed down a few generations in my family.
Thanks, Oblivion! I'm looking forward to trying your recepie (hopefully) in a couple of months (I planted a few poppies on my balcony)...
The tea is nice but it can make you puke. The real stuff. when I first smoked it I just about fell out of my chair on the second hit because it relaxed me so much. It's nice to try once or twice but it's not for me.
I am sure it is different for everyone but I always found that opiates made me puke when I first used them and that it seemed like I needed to push through that and get a bit of tolerence up in order to reach the same state of enjoyment yo guys talk about having first go...I would have said to Valis that if they felt nauseous then that would be a good way to tell but obviously it is different for everyone.
