my favorite, out of the recorded albums, is probably junta. Billy Breathes, Farmhouse, Hoist, and most of the others are good as well. But if you really wanna get what phish was all about get some cds from their live series.

Just download live sets instead of paying for their studio albums.

I like undermind myself, esp Army of One, but you just have to listen and see if you like it. It's not like any other phish to me, but that's what I always liked, that they can be so versatile.

the live downloads are the way to go, on livephish.com I think it is. Or get some old studio CD's on Ebay, good deals usually.

undermind is a great album...except for "the connection", it is the only phish song i dislike....but otherwise, kick ass album...the studio version of "secret smile" is unbelievably beautiful.....Billy Breathes is my favorite.....the album is so amazing opeing up with "Free", there is alot of energy in the first couple songs...really great....then it slows down perfectly and emerging out of that is "train song" an awesome tune that is so perfect, i love mike tunes....Round Room is the most under-rated and its in my opinion one the greatest achievements in album history....the album is full rawness and just amazing song selections, the album was a perfect return....if you want really jammed out, pure instrumentals, get the Sicket Disc, a great album of jams that were all spontaneously made in the making of Story of the Ghost, another kick ass album......if you want a great concept album, get Rift, a great album about a night of sleep, coming in out of dreams...really good....well i could talk about all of them i just realized i was rambling....but any of those....GO FOR IT!

    PS

if you really want to experience phish, as a newbie, buy "Alive One"...it is a great album for begginers and long time fans alike.....amazing double disc collection...then after that start buying and trading live phish....just shows....its the best way to hear phish....is live from start to finish.....

can't believe I never realized this but livephish.com has a radio link, it's awesome for a taste. go there....see what you like.

me and harpua, your enthusiasm makes me want to listen again to "slave" on ALO and Billy Breathes is so great, but I've worn mine out literally, it's chipped and I have to get a new one.

nugs.net has a ton of phish shows.

but my fav albums are junta, lawn boy & a picture of nectar.......i don't like billy breathes as much as everyone else i know seems to....and undermind is good too. more pop-esque than anything they've done but it's not bad.

I do, but this person seems like they want to buy them (meaning they are prob. law abiding).
If they are such, then they wont download the studio albums.

my favorite is Lawn Boy, it was also my first Phish album. Billy Breathes comes in as a close second, and Story of the Ghost third for me. Definitley download some free live stuff for a taste (nugs.net, as someone else already said).
