From what i've seen most satanist and wiccans don't get along...I was just wondering why since both of them have ties to Gereld Gardner...
Gereld Gardner and LeVay both say that their belifes were greatly influnced by Crowley. Gereld and LeVay both being great figure heads for each religon in the 20th century.
hehhehehe... ok.. back ontopic. I like to think that most pagans are very openminded when it comes to believe and that therefor they respect the religions of others as well.. so I don't see why pagans wouldn't get along any better or worse with pagans then with any other religion. Most of the hatred you see coming from pagans is aimed towards christianity I guess.. but I think a lot of polytheists have a hard time being completely openminded about monotheists, esp the more fundy ones. Anyway.. I find the assumption a bit too harsh..
many folk who consider themselves "neo-pagan" (or at least ummm fellow-travellers) are somehwat eclectic... and they are trying to manifest in their lives in the 21st century of this common era an earth-based sprituality, often incorporating some of the old (lost? resurrected?) traditions of their euro ancestors (or other teachings from around the world) & invest them with meaning and magick... and many of them view the lavey (& crowley?) fascination with satan (& the whole luciferian mythos) as nothing but an extension of the (jewish/christian/muslim) stories about YHVH & his arch-nemesis, & thus still stuck on the "god" (yay for the good guy's team) vs. "satan" (boo! hisss! you bad boys are goin' down, sucka!) continuum... and the neopagans generally want nothing to do with the god of abraham & his struggle in heaven & on earth with his #1 fallen angel (lucifer is an angelic name, meaning "bearer of the light"), etc etc etc... sooooo... the earth goddess & her consort (in their many guises) do not wish to be involved in the family squabbles of the deity chosen by (or himself choosing?) a band of semitic nomads who occuped canaan after fleeing their egyptian bondage... other deities, other gameplans, & nuthin' to do with "the adversary" (which is what the term "satan" means, mmmmkay?) ~ shalom peace be with you salaam blessed be namaste tvam tvat asi
Okay, more to the point. Wiccans and Satanist both have pretty much the same holidays (Yes i know satanism is a "personal" belife so alot of them do not have the same holidays" But they both do solctise and eqnouiq etc etc etc and both use the pentegram (yes i know satanist call it the baphmot*sp?*) for their magick and they both use the N S E W directions with Fire Water Spirit Earth etc etc (yes i know satanist use the levithian, lucifer, satan, and baiel thing but each one repsents the same thing the wiccans sue) I guess its just like Christianty's Catholsim and Prostents... But IMHO Satanist seem more like egocentric wiccans...or...Wiccans being non egocentric satanist?
Shorter answer: Once upon a time, The God of Abraham does not exist, therefore Satan does not exist. The end.
Yeah...I was just wondering why neither get along with each other...To me Satanism is a egocentric form of Wicca....I mean this is in NO disrepesct...Just what i've read and seen.
One has nothing to do with the other. They are practically polar opposites. So you've read and seen incorrectly.
to me, embracing luciferian satanism is a defection from the camp of the "abrahamic" faiths of judaism/christianity/islam... (sort of like a zoroastrian bolting from the legions of light suppoorting ahurmaza & joining up with the demon-prince's horde of darkness).. wicca & other "neo-pagans" (& heathen/norse volk) have nothing to do with the YHVH/FATHER/ALLAH entity, or with his adversary (whose name is legion, okydokey...) but wish only to grok the forces which undergird this world and the other worlds, often using older, pre-christian language, usually admixed with a healthy understanding of modern psychology & mythology... and many of the neo-pagan crowd are often MUCH better read on jewish/christian bible-stuff than are their church-going neighbors... (which i suppose could include me, and mos' def' includes dubya & billy graham & the 700 club & pat robertson & that baptist preacher expelling registered democrats from his church & ...) ~ gosh, am i repeating myself here, or is it just that ya don't "get it"? (this message has been presented for your wide-eyed perusal by the department of redundancy department, mmmmkay?)
Okay. Wiccans have this really important belief "An' it harm none, do what ye will." And the none includes themselves, animals, plants (unless you ask permision of the plant and it offers no resistance). No blood sacrifices (a common miscomseption granted by Hollywood when they depict Wicca as Satanism-which also isn't true of that religion when it comes to children and animals). They follow what they call White Magick. The only way Satanism is like Wicca is because the belive in Magick, but there's is termed Black Magick. They are normally out to cause harm, death spells and what not. Even if they do a spell to benefit others they normally also cause pain to another (think of the story about the Monkey's Paw), which is termed Grey Magick. Some useful links to get you started http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_sata.htm Always a good place to get a nonbaised view of religion in my opinion. A couple from a Christian site actually. http://www.exposingsatanism.org/witchcraft.htm http://www.exposingsatanism.org/satanism_links.htm a lot of links. And another one. http://www.christian-gate.com/jesus-saves/archive/index.php/t-167.html Just an interesting site on Wicca and the differences Fundy and Liberal Christians have on it. http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcr5.htm Those should do good on getting you started I hope.
Do I even want to spend my time tearing this statment down? Pagan actully means "one who lives in the country" it later took on a negative name during the spread of christianity in Europe Billy Graham Is a Mason I think he knows ALOT more then you do pre christian language? Are you talking about Runes? Or what....I think you mean the Old Religion....Which really is one big mystery Modern mythology?Ummmmm Correct me if I'm wrong but i thought the only "modern mythology" was Toliken....Oh yes I see it now. Some Wiccan trying to do the dance of Eru. Their mythology is borrowed from various cultures from Mesaptomia from Greek allt he way up to Gardner and Crowely "If y ou dissagree with those to people you REALLY need to look into Wicca" To me it sounds like you read about in 8th grade about "withces" and some kids trying to be a witch...Seriously...When the person asking the question knows more then you it means stop trying to be a big bad internet personailty.
I like hearing other peoples oppion on their relgion. Because I'm not part of that relgion I'm seeing things by my perspecitve and I thats unfair I think. There could be something I'm missing and I want to be as understanding as I can.
i'm glad that you feel more as the one posing the Q that poor li'l ol' me... feel free to tear my statment down...toliken, mesaptomia, allt he way up to gardner & crowely... if i dissagree, i'm an 8th grader reading about withces... why do you think i wanna be a big bad internet personailty? did i rub you the wrong way, kris? do you personally know any folk who follow the path of wicca?
Some people in my Faimly my best friend and I used to have some wiccan/satanist belifes . Btw you didn't rub me the wrong way . But please if thats all you have to say don't post.
That's very open-minded of you. Some of the posts here are soooooo off base. But the one thing you should know about being a Pagan, or a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, etc etc ad nauseum, is that it is whatever you want it to be. In general or in your life.
