Just recently, my mom was discovered to have breast cancer. This past Friday she went to have a lumpectomy on the affected beast and we are still waiting to learn about how far the cancer has spread -- if at all -- so that the proper treatments can be taken. We already know for sure that she will be undergoing extensive radiation and chemo therapy is likely. I was just curious if anyone else has known someone who has had cancer and used cannabis during their treatment. I know from experience that sometimes smoking herb makes pain more pronounced for me. Was there any complications for them subsequent to smoking? Anxiety, discomfort, anything? My dad was a major hippie and introduced her to a wide selecion of substances many years ago, so she's a very experienced user. She even prefers bud to alcohol. She's just apprehensive about smoking any during this time. I keep reminding her that people do it all the time to increase their appetite and to help them relax, but she's still quite nervous. Should I be, too? It's silly, but I find myself unsure about it all right now. She dislikes having to take pain medication and I keep suggesting some herb as an adequate alternative. We shared a joint just the other night and it was her first time getting some necessary rest as well as eating as she normally does. Still, she has yet to begin any treatment and I am starting to wonder if cannabis really is okay to use during that time. Thanks so much in advance for any replies to this.
I read somewhere that THC helps slow and even stop the spread of cancer, not sure though, look it up.
srry to here bro, my grandma has had cancer 3 times and this on is relasped from the second one(lung cacer as is this one) and it all could have been avoided by kemo or raiation but she had half of her right lung removed, 3 ribs, chest wall(replaced by mylar) etc, instead, and shes paing for it now. so just make sure your mom listens to the oncologist and takes a precautionary emasures just to be on the safe side. and s far a mj goes it will increase appitite and kill pain and induce relaation and or sleep, so i say go for it, mab you want to try a vaporizer casue its less harsh on the body.( if you need any thing just pm me)
Well, tell her to just try it a little bit, she'll only be high for a few hours and feeling it at all for maybe a day. I dont think the weed would adversly effect her health or anything like that, but I'm no doctor.
yea theres been a couple of studies done on lab mice that showed that thc slowed and stopped the spreading of certain cancer tumors... it showed that mice lived a prolonged life up to 36%.... i may be off by a few % there... most of these studies are done outside of the US thats why we dont hear about them.. the government dont want us to know this kind of stuff
All I know is Mary Jane is great for pain... I smoked when I broke my big toe and I was walking fine... the next day I was inpained (don't walk with a broken big toe) but that's my fault for being dumb
My thoughts and prayers are with U and your Mom. I hope she will get through this with the inspiration and strength she needs. as far as the bud- keep coaxing her to smoking it, or even putting it in her food. Putting it in her food will be an easier way to ingest-and there will be no smoke to affect her or her lungs. Much Love & Joy to U and Yours Peace
i really don't believe that there's not one non-biased source for that information. there's the anti-pot conservatives who say it causes worse cancer than ciggs, then there's the pro-weed people who claim it slows. everyone has their own "facts" and "studies" that prove whatever they want it to. when it comes to marijuana studies you have to take everything with a grain of salt because there's not enough actual human studies done, and the DEA dosnt really allow it. it sucks, but that's our life. of course, i hope everything works out ok, cancer is a horrible thing. i never got to meet my moms parents thanks to it.
Weed doesnt cause cancer the smoke does. Tell your mom to play it safe and get a Cannibus cooking book and learn all the wonderful things you can make.
