Hey all, i am an american and am interested in moving to your beautiful country once i graduate college. i was just wondering if you know how hard it would be for me to find a job? i am becoming a geography teacher here in america, so do you think i will be able to find a job as a teacher in australia? thank you
Registration is done on a state by state basis. As with other countries some parts of the state are easier to get a job a school teacher than others. NE NSW for instance with its largely alternative lifestyle is a very place to get a job as a school teacher. You have to earn credits teaching elsewhere in the state to even be considered. I am not sure if Geography is such a big subject these days.Perhaps in some of the private schools. You really need to contact the education departments for each state to find out your chances.
well do you think i will have a chance of getting ANY well paying job? i just dont want to live in a tent
Well teachers get better renumerated than some other occupations.Sydney is a super expensive place to live.I would look at some other rural areas. If you can teach IT as well you would greatly increase your chances.
it's much easier for travellers to get jobs over here than people who have lived here their whole lives. god knows how many times i've missed out on an opportunity cause someone who cant even speak english or a british person gets the job! i guess australians love to give overseas people jobs more than they do their own. you should'nt have much trouble. good luck with teachin sydney kids they'll give you a nervous breakdown more than likely.
Yeh, youd definatly get a job... Esp the whole over seas thing, it makes you seem more qualified if your from a different country. Plus there is always a demand for teachers over here!
It'll be easiest to find a job first, it would be tough to immigrate without one, unless you have a uni degree. I know, I moved here for a job, and even that was difficult. It is NOT easier to transfer your visa from a visitors to a working visa! That said, Au is a great place to live. But find yourself a translator, because it really can be hard understanding the accents and being understood.
ive never in my life seen a 19 yr old teacher in a school ay not meaning to crush ya dreams but becoming a teacher is (aparently) not so easy
