what are some of all your favorite teachings of people,-(indian teachings and such, eastern philosophies) such as philosophies, ways of life..i just love learning new ways of thinking and such, but I can't seem to find someone that makes me want to read everything they write..any suggestions?
Well, I was raised in a Jewish country, am currently of the Agnostic faith, regularly meditate and practice yoga, dislike almost everything to do with Christianity. And despite that, some of my favorite teachings are by none other than Jesus Christ. If people paid attention to his philosophy rather than some stupid little details, the world could be a beautiful place. Not that it isn't anyway, but you know what I mean.
Well I don't think this is really a practise or anything, just the way I would want to live my life: 3 Rules: Respect Others, Respect the earth and Respect yourself I think these are the only rules we really need Respect others, as in don't fuck ppl over, don't kill or hurt ppl and shit like that Respect earth, as in don't hunt for fun, don't polute... Respect yourself, don't pump shit into yur veins like heroin or steroids, if u really wana take drugs, take psychadelics and yeah... I could go on an on but I won't lol, if u can abide by these rules that I really don't see why we need a government
Buddhism is a beautiful path. As is Hinduism. I personally favor Shamanism. My favorite teachings are thoes of Yeshua. Brother Yeshua had a wonderful philosophy but if you ask me, the Chruch defiled it.
I find it hard to adhere to just one particular faith...instead I shape my beliefs around many faiths...for example, I follow buddhist teachings, I'm not christain, because I don't believe in God, but hey, Jesus had some great ideas....also I know its not a "person" but check out Pantheism, its a pretty cool nature based religion... Also there are some good books that aren't considered really philosophy, but they kinda have that feel Drinking the Rain by Alix Shulman (I believe thats her name) and Field notes on the Compassionate Life by Marc Ian Barasch
Hmm... well, I don't really believe in or care about anything having to do with souls, the afterlife, gods, satans, and all that crap.... what the fuck does it really matter, you know? I just live, with no attachments to anything that isn't obviously real. I've been finding lately that I really love and agree with the words of the Beat writers, though. Whatever that has to do with this thread, I don't know, but hey its cool, 'cos you like me!
I'd suggest looking into some of the Buddhist teachings and writings. I don't claim any religion and like others mentioned seem to pull thoughts and philosophies from all walks of life. Check this site out: http://www.buddhanet.net/ Beautiful site, beautiful information, and tons of free downloads. (books, daily sayings, etc) G
Hell yeah, we're here to experience life. Whether we are here on purpose or as a mistake: we're here. Live it up!

Anyone into Native American Teachings? It's pretty cool, sort of built around pantheism. Be sure to check out http://www.sonoma.edu/users/d/daniels/nativeam.html
David Mitchell star of Peep Show says this: 'everybody should be able to to exactly as they please as long as it doesn't affect anybody elses ability to do exactly as they please' or something to that effect.
