Senate Passes Real ID: National ID Card On Its Way

    U.S. Newswire | May 11 2005

The Senate has passed the Real ID bill, creating a backdoor national ID card. After weeks of activism directed towards them senators knew the full scale of this horror but voted for it 100-0 anyway.

WASHINGTON, May 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-Wis.), the author of the REAL ID Act (H.R. 418), issued the following statement following today's Senate passage of the supplemental appropriations conference report that included the REAL ID Act:

"The REAL ID is vital to preventing foreign terrorists from hiding in plain sight while conducting their operations and planning attacks. By targeting terrorist travel, the REAL ID will assist in our War on Terror efforts to disrupt terrorist operations and help secure our borders.

"I am grateful for the White House's strong support of this border security legislation. In addition, Senators Frist, McConnell, Santorum, Specter, Kyl, Sessions, Brownback, DeWine, and Cornyn were among those very helpful in shepherding this legislation through the Senate and I wish to thank them."

The truth is that Real ID does nothing to protect the borders and everything towards creating a national ID card.

This fucking blows. I wrote and emailed my state representatives a countless number of times on this, and the neighboring states as well. "Democracy" my fucking ass... nobody listens to commoners.

So only four people have a comment to share about this -- the most Orwellian piece of legislation passed to date? Oh, how nice. I am glad that so many people are so concerned with what's going on around them.

It's rather funny, because yet there are people in these forums who will argue for hours on end about the most pointless, trivial shit, like who is a conspiracy nut, or who is a left-winger or a right-winger.

It really says a lot about where we are headed.

But Rat what do you want people to say?

I’m against ID cards on principle, they are trying to bring in something similar in the UK and many on the left and right are both for and against it. However they have had them in France for years and when I lived there it never really affected me that much and in Europe many people have passports which carry the same type of information.

What are your concerns? What is so Orwellian about it?

    **

You seem to think we should jump when you call but that is not how it works you cannot really post something like this and expect it to get many comments and a discussion.

Now if you had given us your views on the subject and what you thought was the best way to stop it from happening or were putting together a group to (let us say) burn your cards or something you might have got a better response.

So what? You didn't have a comment on it either. Cut and paste, cut and paste. Maybe they are robotically cutting and pasting it into other forums on other websites, like you?

Maybe you've cried wolf too many times? Remember how the draft was coming? How we are "definitely" going to invade Iran and Syria? Well? We're still waiting.

Now that you are so concerned, what are you going to do, and what does that say about where we are headed?

    There's not a lot we can do, which is the frustrating part. I just think we should do our best to disable the powers that be. Spend your money wisely;
local small business, farmers markets, organic...etc. Don't buy from big chains. We are slowly (actually, quickly) reducing the options we have for shopping for food and other items. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Believe it or not, I think all this will help keep a nat'l ID card (and other Orwellian crap) at bay.

Holy Jesus fuck. I've told myself I'd be leaving the country someday many times before, but I didn't really mean it. I do now though, assuming I get through college before they lock us in the borders. This is truly scary, I don't want to see what's going to happen next.

Shut up, be happy. The conveniences you demanded are now mandatory. -- Jello Biafra

You have a very good idea. We weren't really designed to be so dependant anyway. The mind is an incredible thing when it's actually used. Learn to start growing food, even in urban areas, things such as tempeh can be cultivated, sprouts can be grown, etc... medicinal know how is out there, just has to be learned, construction, water, etc....knowledge. People are designed well to accomplish these things in a benevolent and non-harmful way. By being not dependent we can remove a great source of power from those in power.

oh yeah i was reading in time... it's so much about how all the state's have diff drivers licenses and state id's, whereas a license began to gain money

and now it will be used as a national id card .....

you wont HAVE to get it...unless u wanna have a bank account, cash a check, drive, own a home, etc.

    it's gonna be bad.

Very very bad... this country is going down the drains... and you wanted to know what was Orwenlian about it Balbus? It's very reminisant of the totalitarin socitey that Orwen talked about in 1984. I think that's what he meant by that.

    Damn !!!!!

Well all we have to do to stop it is to put up a few biblically based web pages about the card being the mark of the beast from revelations and before you know it all the fundamentalist Christians will be in an up roar.

It could even reach "W" but only if the article is short or someone explains it to him. You know he doesn't like to read.

Here's my helpful tip: boycott McDonald's!
It may seem offtopic, but the government is going right along with all of this, so hear me out:

They're slowly taking over the world, and by golly it's all happening under your noses! They have their own storage companies for all the product, not to mention each facillity utilized to PRODUCE all of these fucking nasty ass products. Trucking companies to transport the product. McDonald's has even gone wireless! Now you can bring in your laptop and for a small fee payable ONLY by credit card, you can surf the web while eating your calorie encrusted food that was deep fried in partially hydrogenated oils! PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS!!!! Those cause cancer! The fucking companies that produce this shitty oil "hides" all of the extra ingredients because of that, but you don't REALLY believe the government has no idea about that do you? THEY KNOW!!! Russet potatoes from Burbank Idaho are COMPLETELY OWNED by McDick's. Factories used to skin, slice, and freeze these potatoes have been bought out, the list goes on and on people! McDonald's is a completely evil corporation, do you know what they use to clean out the fry stations so it's nice and shiny for inspection?? STAINLESS STEAL CLEANER!! That's toxic to our fucking health!

Not only that, but they could spit in your food if they don't like the look on your face.

I think I'll continue this in another thread.
