I know this is a weird question but I don't care, lol. I want to get a tattoo on the back of my neck soon. I know sometimes when you get a tattoo you have to take your shirt off to get it done. Is anyone a tattoo artist or has had the back of their neck done that knows if I'd have to take my shirt off for this? If so, is there anything I can wear like a low tank top that I can keep on? I'm very sensitive about everything just all hanging out and I don't want to sound strange and ask the tattoo artist.
When I got the tattoo done on the back of my neck, I wore a tank top...they didn't ask me to take off my shirt...the only time you should have to take off your shirt is if you get any shoulder or back pieces. If you're worried, just wear a shirt that has a low back on it...make sure you don't wear a halter...and take off your necklaces!
im sure they can just put a bandage over it like they do when you get stickes and wear a loose shirt and be fine
When I got mine on the back of my neck I just wore a tank top and pulled my hair up. If your not sure then talk to whoever is doing the work for you. Remember this goes on your body, you have the right to ask any questions you want no matter how weird!!
You could wear a tube top or somthing strapless. When I had the tat on my thigh done there was no way around it...I had to take my pants off. I'm glad I had something on that day! But my tat artist was HOT so it was kinda fun.
I think you should be fine with a top of some discription left on so long as it's low enough from the area you want tattooed so it's well clear from that area. I had two tattoos done at the very highest point of my back (not quite my neck) and I kept my quite low slung vest top on. My ink-slinger seemed totally unborthered by it. He didn't ask me to take it off or anything. So yeah, you should be fine, honestly.
A quick tattoo tip for anyone really. "Tattoo Goo" is pretty much a must when it comes to the after care of a tattoo (you buy this direct from your ink slinger) but here are some suggestions to speed up the healing proccess. First: "Arnica". From a homeopathic health store. They are designed to help the body heal quicker. When I had my two back tattoos done I took Arnica (at the strenght of "30"...) and my tattoo healed quickly and beautifully. Not as though their are small tat's either, they are quite large. (I started to take them immediately after birthing my Son also, I healed SO much quicker!!!) Second: It's a strange one so just stick with me a min, "Anusol" of any other hemeriod cream. (I know!! You're probably screwing up your face and thinking 'yuk' but...) hemerhiod cream is very benefital for tattoos for two reasons, it reliefs 'swelling' and 'ichyness', so very good indeed when the healing of your tattoo gets to the stage where you're dying to scratch it and also very good if you find you have swelled quite a lot in the area that you've had your tattoo done. Hope anyone finds that useful. Even if you forget every thing I just suggested, the "Arnica" is deffinately really worth remembering, it's FANTASTIC!!!
yup, that's right folks - we usually give out A&D ointment in sample packs along with the NONSTICK bandages but i've heard preparation h from many tattoo people.
You shouldnt hafta take off your shirt, as long as it is a tank top or something low cut in the back.
earthy mama, i just wanna ask one thing how do you pronounce your sons name "croix" its an unusual and really beautiful name!! what doe iit mean?
hey, all you have to do is wear a tanktop- when i get clients getting work done on the back of their neck thats what i tell them to wear. But usually the design wouldnt even go past a t-shirt neck.sorry if i just repeated anyone, just didnt have time to read all the replies.
As long as they have enough room to work on it without having to pull clothing aside, it shoiuldn't be a problem. Also, remember to wear something you don't mind getting a little ink on. They try not to, but it happens. peace
^^^Ahhhh, the great aftercare debate. There are probably as many "best methods" as there are people with tattoos. Anyway, the things to remember are: keep it clean, keep it moist(but not overly so), don't let it sit in water, and, whatever ya do, DON"T PICK IT. Really, people find methods that work best for their own bodies and circumstances and as long as you follow those guidelines, it should be alright. Peace
A tube top. The artist would have full acess to your back and neck and you could cover whatever you want covered.
I have a tattoo of my gemini symbol on the back of my neck and I wore a zip up hoodie thing. I just had to pull up my hair and sit on a chair backwards whil he sat on a chair beind me. You should have to take you're shirt off unless it goes far down but mine ends at the beginning of my spine(in the middle of my neck) so i was fine
