well, pretty much all of robert a heinlein's "juvenile" series (especially _have space suit, will travel_)... (i had finished off all the kid sf novels & story collections at local libraries - when i was like 11 my dad gave my his paperback copies of _stranger in a strange land_ & _tropic of cancer_ ...
i never finished the miller, but i was ready for heinlein's "adult" writings going clear back to 1939..
& all those SF shelves in the adult section, with lots of other authors...
--- this was maybe 1963 or so...

    The Narnia series
    Alice in Wonderland
    The Redwall books (so embarrassing)

God, I just recently read The Secret Garden for the first time. Where have I been??? So great!

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. Never got the chance to read The Adventures of Huck Finn, but I'm sure it's pretty good.

    The Lobster Chronicles
    The Hungry Ocean

Haha, I was obsessed with The Perfect Storm when it came out a few years back. Other than that, I was a fairly odd reader. I remember reading James Michener's Chesapeake when I was ten or so.

I absolutely ADORED "Where the Wild Things Are" and "The Giving Tree." I should get those out and re-read them sometime...

And then, I loved the Chronicles of Narnia and "Through the Looking Glass." I read "Animal Farm" when I was 10, and it's been my all-time favorite ever since...

well when I was REALLY young, I read the Sesimee Street books, Little Critter, and Berenstain Bears... but I remember when I was a pre-teen, I'd read Judy Blume's book Freckle Juice, and the book There's A Boy In The Girls' Bathroom. I would read those over and over... and then in high school I always read the Full House series and Goosebumps. Then I kinda got out of reading.

    The Giving Tree

    Harold and the Purple Crayon

as a tween, i loved all the Babysitter's Club books.

and in 5th grade (for some reason i remember this) i read a book whose title i can't remember....something about wild blackberries, or something. at this age, i had never read such a sad book that made me cry. it's about a kid whose friend dies of a bee sting...anyone know this? i'd love if i could remember the title!

    peace.
    LP

ooooh! i found it on amazon.com! it's called A Taste of Blackberries.
