I'm not phased by much, but I have to say that Audition came close. Something about paralization with drugs and having your feet cut off with piano wire.
I found Paradise Lost (1&2) to be disturbing in the sense that three teenager's futures were based upon their fashion and musical tastes, and the prejudical spirit of the town against non-conformists, rather than any hardcore evidence.

I will never recover from seeing that movie. I had to watch it for school and it traumatized me for life. I regret watching it more that I regret anything else that I did in high school. I can't bear the sight of injuries.

Anyone seen The Ugly (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120401/ )? I saw it twice, for some reason and it still haunts me.. same with Gothika.. I'm not to good with supernatural thrillers. I've got no problems whatsoever with serial killers (well, movies about them that is ;)).. but as soon as there are ghosts or something like that in it, I'm terrified. Side note: only when the context is 'normal day life'.. because I've got no trouble watching stuff like Charmed and Buffy.. that's just 'fantasy' to me.. call me superstitious or whatever.. I get scared be movies like that.. maybe because one of my biggest fears is to lose my sanity (family member of mine is schizofrenic and had psychoses and stuff.. brr..).

    Anyhow.... anyone seen The Ugly?

Gangs of New York, how much blood and gore do they need. Those skinned rabbits were the worst though, I have a great sensitivity with regards rabbits.

Quills is pretty grim too (depravity, murder, torture etc), but at least that's funny (in a twisted way).

Another distubing movie is Return to paradise. Simply because is just so sad. I almost cried, which is no mean feat.

"Looking for Mr. Goodbar" had one of the most disturbing endings ever.

I found the movie "Kids" to be disturbing, as well as "Boy's Don't Cry," that rape scene haunts me.

Yeah.. about Kids.. I just can't figure out the ethics behind that movie.. it are all young kids (duh) playing it, talking about sex, smoking etc.. very excellent acting by the way.. great movie (I work with homeless youngsters in Amsterdam, so I recognize some of the behavious, be it not so extreme in RL). Does anyone know anything about the kids acting in the movie, their ages, if there was a problem with them playing those parts etc. etc.? I'm curious :)

I agree with the rape scene in Boys Don't Cry. Just how casual and hateful the rapists were was so awful.

7 was pretty disturbing. The scene where the guy had been forced to eat all the Spaghettios....and the ending.......Kevin Spacey was so perfect as the killer.....

Pretty Women. The way people (especially womyn) look at this misogynist piece of drivel and go "Oh how cute, a LOVE story. I want the Fairy Tale." Without a thought about how brutal and awful life as a prostitute actually is. And how this would NEVER happen in real life. Richard Gere (does he NEED to pay for it?) would have gotten a social disease, he would have beaten up Julia, she would have eventually ODed on heroin or died during a back alley abortion or Gang Rape.....but I guess that wasn't in the Fairy Tale.

I agree with this one definitely. It was a hideous movie, but somehow enjoyable.
