Two teens got popped picking 'shrooms the other day. They had a bag of weed on them and they admitted what they were doing so they were charged with MANUFACTURING PSIOCYBIN. How crazy is that? "Poems are made by fools, you see But only God can make a tree."
tell me about my friend got the same thing last week, cops just have nothing better to do then ruin everybodys fun
ya man for sure...im so happy tommorow is my first shroom trip :O i cant wait for the fabolus fungi to control me!
Happygirl, NO. THEY ARE NOT ALL GOOD. It's very important to remember that. If you found some in Tenn (and you might) they'd probably be this same spiecies, Pslyicbe Cubensis, the same as mex mushrooms, more or less. They grow out of cow shit in high humidity and wet conditions. You may find them in July or Aug the first or second sunny day after heavy rains. Look for pastures with standing water. Most, but not all, have a ring around the stem once opened. it is very prominent and quickly turns purple or dark, almost black-blue from spores that fall on it. (hence the name"purple ringer"). The bottom of the cap is a dark color too. If the underside is white, or even particularly light colored, THROW IT AWAY NO MATTER WHAT ELSE. upon much handling or tearing, the caps and especially the stems will bruise noticably. After a while picked mushrooms that are gently handled well turn dark around the edges. Lastly, take a spore print. Place a cap on a sheet of white paper and cover it with a glass. In a couple of hours there will be a spore print on the paper. You can do this with any mushroom that has gills underneath the cap. P. cubesis leaves a print that is the blue-black/purple color. It's unmistakable. So purple ring, Dark underside, noticable brusing, and the proper colored spore print all add up to 'shroooooom!
oh my god geck....those first two pictures look like they are PERFECT texbook cubes...i need to go change my pants...
i would love to live farther south. the only time i've seen wild shrooms was from a car window driving back through georgia coming home from fla and it had just recently been rainy....cow fields were packed with large mushrooms everywhere. i've noticed in pictures of wild shrooms, the cap is usually much lighter than when its grown indoors. do you know the reason? perhaps just easily bleached out by the sun?
The mushrooms in the field are actully a bit darker than the appear in these pics (cheap camera). I have, however noticed that the caps seem to be darker the farther south you go. I SC they're a few shades lighter, and the one's I knew for sure where from SO mex were darker, and I think var. mexicanis spores are usually what's availble commercially. But not privately!
About ten years ago when I lived up north I came to Florida to visit some friends to go on a shroom hunt in Brandon. It was actually quite the ordeal - they were very cautious about the whole thing, perhaps too cautious I dunno. I remember riding out to the farmlands in the back of a pick up truck syncronizing our watches with the driver to be picked exactly an hour later and only if no cars were going by. Apparently one of their friends had been caught, so they were particularly careful. It was definitely a fun harvest - except for the damn banana spiders and their webs stretching from tree to tree. I have a bit of aracnophobia and when you're walking along looking at the ground and all of a sudden look up and a three inch long yellow and orance spider is right in front of you its kinda freaky. Generally I found them to be pretty good quality, but certainly no where near the strength of those that I used to get from Washington state and Oregon. Now that I've moved back down here again I'd love to go on another hunt, but considering I don't know anyone yet, its doubtful if I go alone.
