who can reccommend an all around tent? Meaning sturdy, versatile for weather conditions, and potable? also it has to be good for sex and shadow puppets, thanks for the help
lol I would look on eBay for a tent. Make sure to buy some seam sealant since cheap tents tend to leak at the seams. If you want more info from us I would give us some details. How big a tent do you want (how many people will be using it)? What kind of camping will you be doing? Plan on camping in snow/cold/extreme weather?
I am looking for a smaller 2 man type of tent. Most likely under 250$. I will be camping in 3 season climate almost entirely, so I do not need super sturdy. I prefer a backpacker tent but any will work. What do you reccommend I buy for equipment when close to car camping around the american west?
I enjoy backpacking ass well. Something I have learned from tents, though, is that I would rather have 1-2lbs extra and have some head room in my tent that going super light. Of course, that is personal preference. If I was trekking the AT I would deifinitely go super-light. $250 gives you a pretty decent budget, it is about $200 more than I spent on my last tent =P Kelty is pretty reputable in the backpacking biz. Here is a good chart of some 3 and 4-season tents that they have (the chart lets you check out weight, size, price so you can get an idea of what's available): http://www.backpacking.net/geartent-chart.html Just some ideas, and make sure to shop around for the best deals. As far as equipment for car camping, you don't really have to worry about much there. A small grill (they even have small fuel grills you can buy if you don't like charcoal), some good food, sleeping bags, and some alcohol and you wont need much else! Well, maybe you should bring a first aid kit =P
walmart tents,, cheap and durable for your kinda use.. hell 250 bucks at walmart ya get you two man tent an 3 weeks food,, these kids are clueless,.. tis what we use,, hell have bro draggin a ground score one just like ours from a festival ,,for over a year now, an he lives in it...
Hey, if he's got $250 to spend on a tent, why the hell not? Sure I'm on a budget, I got a pretty good 2-man tent on ebay for $39 bucks plus shipping (had to seal the seams) and it keeps me dry and bug-free. But if I could afford one with some bells and whistles (like a place to clip a flashlight and stuff some of my things) I'd get that for myself for sure.
bug free... you guys ever see those nam era hammocks with the little rainfly and bug screen built in? those things are sweeet.
i would check out the freecycle in your area. www.freecycle.com or you could go to Walmart and get an ozark trail tent. They are inexpencive.
Do me a huge favor, dont but from walmart, by doing so you are supporting the problem, try searching through a classified listing or check ebay, I got my tent from a garage sale, had to seal lots of seams but its just lovely, tube tents made from tarps are very nice as well and weigh very little.
Here's what my 2,000+ miles of hiking on the AT tell me. Eureka Zeus EXO 2 is a great lightweight tent (3 lbs 10 oz) that compacts to the size of a football sets up in a snap is singlewall but breathes very well. I used to have one of these tents until some jerk stole it. (freestanding) Kelty Zen. I've had this one for 5 years and it has served me well. 4 lbs 10 oz) (non-freestanding) You can find great gear reviews at the Backpacker Magazine site and find great deals at www.campmor.com
have you looked into hammock camping....you can diy the hamocks cheap, extremely portable and light....no need to worry about uneven ground and rocks.... diy...hammock equipment.... http://www.imrisk.com/index.htm hammock camping.... http://hikinghq.net/hammock/hammock7.html
i just purchased a eureka aspen 3 at dick's clothing and sporting goods. i can't find the damn tent listed on their damn webpage. it was under $200. (yeah, i could have gone cheaper, but the ex was paying! kind of a goodbye gift, i guess.) i plan on spending the summer in this tent, leaving in 2 weeks. does anyone have experience with it? it sets up quick and easy, but how warm is it? i plan on lining my second-hand sleeping bags with second-hand fleece blankets, a cheap trick to boost warmth in cheap sleeping bags with mediocre temperature ratings that the salesman told me about, and i've got an inexpensive, lightweight thermal sleeping mat that's a little bulkier than i'd like to deal with, but it will do for now. does anyone else have advice for keeping warm in a cheap tent? i'll have to pack everything up & move it every once in awhile, so weight & bulk are a consideration.
