Punk Girl Bands!!!!

can anyone give me some good girl punk bands worth listening too. i know some of you have to listen to some punk. i'm no punk rocker, but i do listen to some girl punk. Now i already know of THE LUNACHICKS, THE SLITS, BIKINI KILL, AND SAHARA HOTNIGHTS.

haha yes!! I love that!! it is so true....I'm probably playing with fire here....but I know I 'm not alone in thinking that girl musicians in general all suck.....sure they have great voices and can sing with incredible energy and heartbut musically it doesn't seem as though they do much......it seems to me that all the creative music, the new musicians that push the envelope on the standards of music have all been guys.... from beethoven and mozart to charlie parker and miles davis to john lennon and jimi hendrix to kurt cobain and Thom Yorke

I love the Lunachicks. They Frinkin' rock. They write crazy songs, and the guitar player is pretty good.

 

The thing about girls is that they try too hard to be as good as or better than guys, and they end up just sucking. Plus, you can't dress in a cute little schoolgirl outfit with a tie and everything and still be taken seriously. Unless you're Wendy O'Williams or whatever. But that's just dangerous...

 

I've seen Hell's Belles a few times. An Ac/Dc cover band. I think they rock.

I think there are two reasons why women are'nt very "good" musicians. 1-Women are labeled as bad musicians. It makes it hard to get going on an instrument when everyone tells you that you're doomed to be a terrible musician.
2-Women don't seem very determined(even the ones who are'nt apearantly affected by the above issue) . I've seen many girls pick up an instrument for the first time, realize they suck, and put it down. This has'nt happened every time, but more often than not, they go through a slew of instruments trying to find one they are good at, then eventually give up and quit. I really wish more women played instruments.

 

Girls seem to have a hard time just rocking out and enjoying. They want to write something deep and meaningful about how they feel.... They can't grasp the concept of loveless, nameless, faceless hardcore groupie sex and hard liquor. We want wine coolers and a commited life partner! Hello, Detroit!

I've always liked The Murmurs.

 

I'm trying to get an all female punk rock band together. Can't find a freakin drummer though.

When I finally get it together then I'll let you know and you can tell me if we suck. =)

There may not be many great all -girl punk bands but there are certainly lots of good female musicians in rock bands. The drummer in my band is a girl and we are one of the best bands probably ever, there are plenty of girl bass players like Kim Gordon and Kim Deal, there was a really hardcore Detroit woman playing guitar in the Laughing Hyenas, the drummer of the Velvet underground, etc.

i dont think girls suck as musicians but a bad ass girl guitar player or drummer are hard to come by, i think it is still harder for a girl to break into the music industry that it is for a guy unless she wants to dress like a 15 year old slut and sing someone elses songs................​
