I was just wondering.... how does your taste in music differ, or is the same as, you parents? My mom and I both like some soft rock stuff... Elton John, Billy Joel... we like some of the same oldies stuff (Beatles, Frank Sinatra, etc.)... but most of the newer stuff I listen to, she's not into... yesterday I put in a cd by The Von Bondies and she turned it down, called it "noise".

Both my parents are into rock of some kind or another. My mum is into stuff like T.REX ( she almost went out with Mark Bolan!), Pink flloyd, jefferson airplane, Cream etc etc. My dad is into slightly harder stuff - deep purple, motorhead aswell as grateful dead,Lou Reed, Tom petty, cream, jefferson airplane, jimi hendrix, the kinks,REM, beatles and the doors, Enya and looooads more! Ive kinda inherited a combination of both musical tastes i guess but ive also got stuff like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, System of a down, Incubus,Tristania, HIM etc in my cd collection too and with the exception of Led Zep ( who have never really been his thing), my dad loves my music!

    peace and love

Everyone I've ever known has affected my taste in music. From my Mother, to the guy next door. My tastes go from Jim Reeves & Patsy Cline, to Coolio and Ice-T.
I'll give the Von Bondies a listen....

My mom and dad are really into the contemporary country stuff thats being made today.. my dad won't give anything that I like a listen, but I got my mom into Bob Dylan and The Beatles. :H

My brother's tastes are pretty much the same as mine, except he loves Led Zeppelin. My sister likes pop-"punk", Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, and all in all just garbage similar to what I all ready listed.

my mum is not into music. My dad listens to Simon & Garfunkel, the beatles, fleetwood mac, ccr. Some of his favourite albums are Lou Reed's 'Transformer', Bob Dylan's 'Desire' and Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'. But he's not really into music anymore. He rarely listens to his cds and he doesn't know much about music (for instance, he never heard of the Velvet Underground). My sister listens to whatever is in the top-40 or on mtv.

My family has terrible taste in music. Actually, they don't even like music very much. I'm the only person in my family who actually likes it. They all treat music as something to put in the background.

They are all rockers, even my grandma, so they raised me so, but music is music, and people who really understand it have no problem in not drawing strict lines between different styles, you know what I mean. I mean, I listen to classical too, but I don't consider only classical music to be art. I don't listen to anything that I don't find artistic, but my view of art is reaaaaaly different than others may think.

My brother is a deadhead like me. Its amazing how similar our tastes are considering that since age twelve, I've probably seen him on average - ten days a year.

parents pretty much rock out to Clapton, Nora Jones and the Eagles

Similar but different. Like my parents, I like Cheap Trick, David Bowie, Billy Idol, The Ramones, The Clash, The Cars, The B-52s, Black 47, The Cure, etc. But my dad likes Nirvana and the Sex Pistols, who I'm not a fan of. I like the Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan, and a lot of 50s music, which my parents don't like (except the Temptations. We all like them). But then, my grandma is pleased. ;)

I also like some rap, which my whole family despises. And, of course, the Culture Club. I was born too late- I've yet to meet another fan.

I grew up on Pink Floyd, the Beatles and Queen due to my father. We also share very similar tastes in Russian rock.

My mom is more into romantic Israeli music, but can get into russian rock once in a while as well.

Me and my brother have almost identical musical tastes but he's a tad more techno based while i'm more rock based.

i get most of my taste in music from my parents. mom is more of a simon & garfunkel, joni mitchell, softer folk-like music kinda chick, but she also loves zeppelin. my dad likes zeppelin too, and ac/dc and other rock n rool kinda stuff. mom has a really broad taste in music and that's about how i am. i do like modern stuff too, that they absoluetly hate.

I've been force-feeding my parents brutal satanic music since I was five. I have to keep them indoors nowadays or they would start murdering any random passer-by and wouldn't stop until there were no living creatures in sight anymore. Which is cool. :)
