Wonder why we never see them on the news? Hopefully, in a few years, the Iraqui people will have the promise of freedom that we all share!

So, you mean if i go build a road or school, I can go on a mass killing spree and still be considered a hero?

    God bless amerika, indeed.

Never mind the fact that we wouldn't need to be building all these roads and schools if we didn't DESTROY THE ONES THAT WERE ALREADY THERE!

So what's the "exchange rate" here, GBA?

How many babies do we get to kill per mile of road built?

How many schools do we need to build to earn a few "collateral damage" points?

Just want to make sure that the pentagon is getting a square deal, after all....:)

Trust me, the roads and schools in Iraq were up shit creek long before we arrived.

Well if you consider how much better off Iraq will be in 20 or 30 years than it would have been (Uday or Qusay wouldn't have been much different than Saddam), I'd say that the "exchange rate" pays off in the Iraqis favor.

Isn't that what the terrorists are doing? I call what we are doing defending ourselves, our freedom and our way of life. If the terrorists win, we won't be sitting around and free to post our views. Have you ever given thought to what life would be like if you were forced to live as the terrorists want? Think about it.

either way it is sad to see their houses but i think what some americans don't see is that there are people here in america that live in situations like that. look at the dirt poor appalachian kids, some don't even have running water and get diseases from shitting in filthy outhouses and we never read about that. how can we work on re-building iraq when we can't take care of most of the people in our country...................................

I understand there are childeren that have bad living condition here in the US. But you cannot compare their lives with the childeren or Iraq. The childeren of Iraq have far worse living conditions. They have only been free of a dictatorship for a year, and even still, the Muslim insurgents still kill and destroy their own people. Here, we have charities, shelters, and other programs, whether they are government run or privately owned. The childeren of Iraq don't have any.

Yeah, Gulf War I , 10+ years of sanctions and regular bombing raids saw to that pretty well...:(

Prior to that, Iraq had one of the highest standards of living in the region, nearly up to "First World" standards for transportation, literacy, and infrastructure.

And when one of the various religious fundamentalist factions overpowers the puppet regime we set up, the formerly secular country will then know not only the same or worse political repressionthan the Hussein years, but the joys of Islamic theocracy, as well! :) At least Bush will be correct in the end--finally, Al Qaeda will have training camps and recruiting centers in Iraq!
