Hi I'm interested in hearing what people say about this book... is it worth reading? I kinda fear it might be just a commercial hype... but then again... it's dylan... what do you think?
he needs to have a paycheck, sure. but still the man CAN write, & that's an understatement. he got paid for writing songs too. the thing is whether or not he actually has something to say in a book at this time.
i think he has enough money to last his lifetime. you wont appreciate the book unless youre a big dylan fan.
I def. agree...it was very interesting...but def. not your everyday autobiography...but I liked it a lot.
i can guarentee you that bob does not need the money, hes a rich mofo. Buy the book its worth every penny, it was so freakin good.
The book was VERY good. Really out of order but he did great. i bought it and after i read it ppl havent stopped borrowing it
I'm a Dylan fan but I must say I didn't enjoy this book. Although I usually enjoy disjointed structures, I couldn't get into this one. I also found the references to his musical influences quite boring - I ddn't really know many of them which is obviously my problem but I found his descriptions predictable. I was looking forward to more of an insight into his character and his life but he seems determined to write about his development as an artist and all that concerns that - his choice and prerogative but not what I was expecting. I won't be buying the second volume
your one of the first ppl that didnt like this book. I loved his chapter about him in greenwich village, but if you want something about his character there was the whole section about him lost in the late 80s. This book was really the best book i've read in a while. buy it, read it, LOVE IT.
I bought Chronicles 1 in November (before I was homeschooled) and skipped a day of school just so I could go out in the woods and read it by this creek. Finished it in that day. I even stole my dad's truck to buy it while my parents were gone to a party. It's now in Ontario, as I mailed and gave it to meg (moonjavaseed) after I finished reading the book so she didn't have to buy it. Haha, I like that website Bookcrossings. You leave books for people.. it's kind of like Geocaching. I'd like to start something like that for mailing books. People could do a thing where they mail a book to people after they're done reading it and it keeps going on and on. Kind of a cross between Bookcrossings.com and Where's George.com with it's own twist.
first of all street legal is a great album, senor is one of his better songs. witht that being said he didnt talk about making that album. He actaully talked about, i believe it to be, Oh, Mercy which is another awesome album. I hate how ppl think dylan's career ended with the 60s and blood on the tracks. Hes puttin out some of his best stuff ever right now, check out time out of mind and love and theft, two of his best and newest albums. It woudl be cool to hear him talk about his great albums, but i think its very dylan to start off with an album like oh mercy.
I got Chronicles from my library. I almost didn't want to read it because I didn't want him to screw up in the middle of a big creative roll, but it's good, with some unexpectedly positive comments about Joan Baez, and some interesting glimpses into previously unseen aspects of his life. The funniest thing, though,is that in reality it reveals absolutely nothing ... he continues with that perverse, coyote-ish evasion of his audience.I wonder if there'll be a volume 2?
