I have a question... I'm looking into guitar lessons and am wondering what questions would be good to ask the person before I invest my time/money into it?

not quite sure what you mean, but if I were you I'd get them to play some stuff for you to see if they look like they know what theyre doing

    Heres what I would ask...

    Have you taught before?
    Who have you taught?
What can you teach me in six months? (or whatever time frame you expect to take lessons for)
What type of music will we start with?
What type of music do you usually play/teach?
How many other students do you have? -too many can wear on a teacher

How quickly a person can teach you depends on how you learn and practise.
Most teachers start with basics, and that gets bo-ring, but will be valuable later. Try to find out if they can mix in something besides basic open chords if it gets tedious.

Teachers will often ask you to learn two songs at first, one of your choice and one they pick. Then you will be asked to work on it and play them each time you get together. This gives an idea of how often you practise, and your progress will be told as you get the songs better.
Teachers are also noted for being strict on small disciplines, but they are trying to show the right way to do it. Where a person puts their thumb, picking etc, later you can throw all that away if it doesnt suit you.

Lessons are a great way to learn, along with playing with friends and watching others play. Dont be discouraged if after a week or two it seems frustrating, it doesnt take too much work to build up to playing a few songs. Everyone has good days and bad days on guitar, and the more you practise the easier it gets!
