i have first hand experience with our social services system, i needed help and the damn government holds back funds.............. not enuff to give everyone who needs food stamps food, not enuff to give every single mother who needs a job day care assistance................. come on, i think we should fix our own problems before getting involved in other peoples problems........
yeah they have it bad but who made America MOM of the world??????

It is the duty of the strong, to protect the weak. America is the strongest nation on this planet.

so were strong enuff to protect them temporarily, but we cant take of ourselves permanently, that is like saying we will be over there forever protecting them. for this whole thing to work we will have to have men in iraq forever, there are other places in the world that are having problems that we are not invading and re-building........

Well, you see, it's people like the liberals whom won't let us go and help other countries(the Middle East, N Korea, etc). If we go and try to help another country, their leaders will get pissed, and that starts a war. And you know, we can't have that. It's not that we don't want to, it's that because of political reasons, it would be a bad move. But I really wish politicains would grow some balls and do it anyway, because the world needs out help.
And you know, we have missionaries in many other countries. China, Africa, South America, just about all the poorest countries. But who gives a crap about them anyway? Huh?

i know all about the missionaries, i know a few. my grandmothers church does a missionary trip but they never seem to get any credit. the news only shows what the government wants us to see. they never show the good humans do only the bad...............................

its like in my town, if someone saved a child from being hit by a car on the same day someone robbed a bank, the robber wold get the whole news spot and no one wold even know the name of the man who saved the child......................

Hate to break up the nice friendly chat, but I have some smack to throw down:

If we had our way, Saddam would have been out the first time and there would have been no need for sanctions. The UN decided to let Saddam stay, and instead impose sanctions which hurt only the people, and not the government responsible for the fuck up.

We'll talk about that when it happens. Right now, Iraq's future is much brighter than it was under Saddam.

Umm, isn't George 1st the one who sent all kinds of happy weapons to saddam while making it illegal to send medicine to sick children? You know the UN really has no say in much of anything unless the US backs it.

No, he wasn't as far as I know. We helped him gain power in the 70s and fight the Iranians in the 80s, but once he invaded Kuwait we distanced ourelves from him as much as possible. It's the UN who started that bullshit "food for oil" or some such program that they ended up making millions off of while kids starved and died.

No that would be the asshole in office before him, Ronnie Raygun. Iraq was fighting Iran, so we had to arm them. The whole "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" philosophy, dontcha know?

Nope, that would have been Bush Sr's decision. Unlike his dimwit son, he understood what would likely happen if the US were to completely remove the government of the country, and decided to stop short of total military occupation.

Yep, the same lack of planning and analysis that got us into the mess we are in now. The Bush team's lack of planning, exit strategy, and objective analysis of intelligence has turned into a helluva mess, no? I've got a suggestion for Bush's campaign slogan:

"We'll Burn That Bridge when We Come To It"

    :)

actually, bush sr probably didnt push for removing saddam since we had many muslim countries fighting with us who 1) didnt want to anger their own people by toppling a government that was run by a muslim for america.....2) it was a good way to try and cause division within the muslim countries and hopefully reform some by making them apart of us and our actions. the US and the UN and all the other countries would have had a much easier time replacing saddam hussein 13 years ago when people were begging for us to overthrow saddam, instead we let them get slaughtered by saddam.

Some people have some really warped idea believing that iraq was some great peaceful, successful country before the US came and we destroyed it and everyone is suffering because of the US. Hundreds of thousands of iraqi children have died in the past 13 years because of hunger(caused by saddam). Yes, 10-15k iraqi deaths in the past year is a gross amount, even 1 is a gross amount. But lets put things into perspective....MANY more were dying due to hunger and lack of medical supplies under saddams ruile...who was giving a shit about them while they suffered under saddams rule? People can preach against the US and the iraq war, but are complacent when it comes civilians dying via a tyrant instead of an ill placed US bomb.

Because I have anything to do with planning anything in Iraq right? All I'm saying is that you made an assumption based on events that haven't even happenned yet, so you can't possibly defend a position based on those assumptions.

Fine, and I say we'll see, since I don't agree with your prediction. How again does that show lack of planning or analysis?
