That's a good point, Aquamarine! One cannot mistake people that are just trying to be "in" for anything other than trendy, what with the make-up and accessories. That's a very good point!
my question is - hippie style is still a style, right? different hippie 'trends' come and go slightly within the community - while patchwork was huge not long ago, now it seems to be leaning a little towards hemp and other simple clothing. that's just an example, but you see what i mean? i don't understand how we can judge people that shop at stores like old navy. or the gap. or even freakin under 21 lol. they are just wearing what they like. most people can not say their style is totally 'original', we get inspiration all over the place for what we choose to like, which is fine. i've seen clothes at shows, and my brain starts ticking thinking 'i like that skirt, i would just change this and that...' and soon i have an original creation that was definately inspired from those around me. while i may not understand why anyone would want to wear their crotch at their knees or skirts that barely cover their ass, i respect their choice and i can't judge them for it.
It's been that way forever. Great artists create something using their time, industry hops all over it to reap the profits. Nothing new. Don't worry-- it will pass when the fad passes. Then ppl who do this "anyway" will get their business back. Sucks but thats just the way it goes. Boycott would be good though. Some will, some won't. Its life.
I said the exact same thing that lucy did when I saw the comercial for the skirts....I was really upset when I saw one that I loved, too. But I'm also happy to know that I own nothing from any of those kind of stores. Fashion trends are just annoying. Remember when singers like avril lavigune (sp?) and all those other little "punk" bands, and everyone started to dress like they were punkish? The people who were actually punk were really annoyed, and I don't blame them, but you could usually tell the real thing from the fake ones. It's starting to go by now, and the new tend seems to be our "style," sadily. I can see what you guys are all saying about the girls with the "caked makeup" and stuff....it sucks that we're getting the image of ditzy tend-sucked girls when we're the people who are actually the real thing. I can't wait for it to be over, but we can't get mad over what other people are wearing. Then we would be hypocrites to be upset for people saying things about what we wear. It sucks, but it'll be over soon.
support thrift shops and second hand clothing not sweatshop clothes you fashion conscious trendy whores. Old navy clothes look like all the other clothes except they have Old Navy written on them... People only pay 50$ more on brand name clothing so they look cool in front of their trendy/dumbass/whore friends. Old navy commercials are the devil... without a doubt the most annoying thing ever on television EVER... Considering they pay the people who make their clothes next to nothing, and charge 40$ for a fucking shirt, they have the potential to sell their clothes for a shit load less, but they won't because they know how trendy their clothes are, and rich spoiled kids and parents will shell out the money so their children can look cool like their friends, because they are walking billboards for the most corrupt, morally-wrong businesses in the world.
support thrift shops? you have got to be kiddin me haha. i prefer my clothes new with me being the first 1 to wear em
what does it really matter? Buying new clothes just helps support the child labor/sweatshop industry... unless you find some business in america that doesnt use sweatshop labor (good luck)... OMFG someone else wore this shirt it is no good, i must spend 40$ on a new one with Old Navy written on it so my idiotic friends will think im cool. Who gives a fuck how many children slave for Old Navy and get beat with belts when they arent working hard enough. Fuck em, they aren't me... i need my fresh shirts and social acceptance now!
i dont buy new clothes for social acceptance, dont know where that came from. i find shirts at old navy for around $12 when theyre on sale. i like how you're trying to make me sound bad for having a few shirts from old navy haha
wtf is wrong with thrift stores or second hand clothing... so much so that you have to go out and buy clothes made by children? Whether or not you buy the clothes for social acceptance, millions of idiotic yuppie children do...
more like millions of americans do it haha. why do you keep on talkin bout "yuppies" whatever the fuck thats supposed to mean. maybe if thrift stores had clothes that i liked, i would
i mentioned yuppies once... Thrift stores have every type of clothing you can imagine, you can even find old navy clothing there. How can you not like what thrift stores have to offer? The possibilities are endless. You probably just been to some shitty thrift stores in yer days.
yea, ive had to do community service at 2 different goodwills. i dont mind wearin other peoples clothes if theyre what i like but thrift shops dont have em. plus, i wear a lot of dickies which are as cheap as you can get with new clothes. might as well spend $10 more to look nicer and cleaner instead of wearin some old faded shirt
eh not all of the clothes are faded and dirty, although I love looking dirty because it pissess off the yuppies that I've mentioned earlier. It's about not giving your money to these asshole corporations... and too many people will spend 30-40$ on shirts and 100+$ pants, which is rediculous... We all know the cost on these things is next to nothing, and that these corporations are responsible for sexual assault, physical, verbal assault on a lot of their child workers. Urban dictionary kicks ass.. Yuppie: a very arrogant well put together young urban professional who you more than likely will find wearing gucci and prada with a large bank account which they love to brag about. You can find them drinking Starbucks, living in a one bedroom apartment in a city where they will pay 1000-2000 a month for and spending another 3000 a month on their credit cards. They brag about their designer clothes and love to flaunt them , as well as their wealth. They look down upon anyone who isnt as wealthy or high status as they are. Men are likely to be found wearing designer suits, gucci preferably with slicked back or well cut hair. The women will be wearing prada/gucci and fendi. The most arrogant concieted fucks on the planet. Look at that yuppie flaunting his wealth. Most of the characters in American Psycho
i grew out of that "pissin people off with the way i dress" back in 9th grade. and i dont know what the fuck people spendin $40 on a shirt and $100 on pants has to do with me and my spendin habits on clothes. i dont have the money to spend that much anyways and even if i did, i wouldnt
when I say I dress a certain way to piss people off, realize im only pissing yuppies off...and yuppies arent really people. You are considering that when I keep replying to your posts, that I am only talking about you... that is wrong, im not talking about your spending habits... I'm talking about every idiotic yuppie whore I see walking into an Old Navy, Gap, Etc store. or every soccer mom i watch go into Old Navy and shell out a good 5-6 hundred dollars on a few pairs of pants and a few shirts. I could care less if you own a few old navy shirts on sale for 12$, the idea is to boycott corporations that use sweatshop labour... and yuppies brag about their wealth, and consider themselves on a higher moral ground than the rest of society, which couldmt be further from the truth because they are giving mass amounts of money to corporations who use sweatshop labor... this is precisely why I hate yuppies.
uh alright whatever. youre pissed off at people with money or what? still dont get what youre tryin to tell me. i dont give a fuck bout other people and what they buy and how much theyre spendin. i got my own my life to deal with
I dont really know, you keep replying so I keep replying, but really nothing im saying is directed toward you... So it really makes little sense, yet I feel a need to respond every time you respond... quite the vicious cycle... its not just rich people, it's rich people who have serious attitudes, superiority complexes, who keep bragging about what they have, and are clueless to the suffering they help support across the world. Many people only care about their own life, which is why they dont give a fuck if the clothes they wear are made by children who make next to nothing and might be victims of rape, and are probably victims of physical assault at least...
last time i checked, i don't think i ever pissed anyone off with my thrift store clothing. By the way Mui, i love you- you're saying everything i wish i had said in my original post. I couldn't agree with you more.
still dont get why yall care bout other people and what clothes theyre buying, regardless of where they come from
