    Hey guys...

I've just come back from spending a year in Devon. I loved it! I lived in Exeter, and it seemed so full of life! I got home sick and I ran home...and now I feel lost! I can't seem to find anything to relate to! I like yoga, buddhism, enviroment issues, helping people, campaigns etc.. Where can I go to find similar people? I'm so sick of all my dope smokin, pill poppin friends. I wish I was strong enough to say no but I'm not and I need to meet others who at least share my passion for the same interests/goals..Anyone here from essex? anyone got any ideas? Help me you guys! :H

East Anglia's not really very alive for that kind of scene. It seems the kind of place where a lot of old middle class people want to retire to, and where a lot of younger people just want to escape, or end up in dead end jobs. I'm living in Cambridge at the moment, which is quite nice, and lots to do politically, and there's a very alive student scene, so plenty of young people who aren't too shallow. Theres an East Anglian Social Forum, that moves around the region every few months, which you might like to check out to get in touch with young active people who want to make a difference. Again it's not huge, this is East Anglia after all, but it might put you in touch with a few activists....

I haven't lived in Essex for over 10 years but when I was there (Southend ish area) there was quite an undergroud scene although I don't know if underground scenes have died a death.....but anyways, my mum still lives there and there still seems to be a lot of stuff going on, yoga classes, t'ai chi, meditation stuff etc etc. I don't know where you are but have you actually looked into doing a class? Check out colleges, schools, gyms etc chances are you might not meet anyone interesting but then again, who knows?

It's difficult when social groups don't change and do stuff that you're not into anymore, perhaps they're just not the right people for you? Start making changes, get active, if you want to meet people more on your wavelength start putting out for it (and not in that kinda way!)

Just one question - you moved from Exeter back to Essex - WHY?!"?!
