every summer i break out in zits. i think it's because i work outside at a pool and all the sweat clogs my pores up. thing is, since it's been nice outside i've been smoking almost everyday, and i noticed that there seems to be more breakouts when i've smoked a lot than if i dont. does anyone have any idea why this might be or what i coulddo about it?

do you mean smoking cigs or pot? cigs cut back on the oxygen flow to your face for about an hour after each cig and it prevents your face from healing as well so maybe that's it? also, Biore has face wipes/cleansers that you can use without water and they are great for the tanning salon or beach or anywhere you are outside for a while on a hot day....that might help you to clean the sweat off your face if you just carry a little pack of those with you.

Also, how much water do you drink? If you're sweating a lot but not significantly increasing your water intake, you could be running on slight dehydration, which will lead to more breakouts.

"They" (whoever they are) say you should drink 8 - 8oz. glasses of water a day. The best way I've found to do that is to keep a Nalgene bottle (they're like $8, you can get a cheaper version at Target) with me as much as possible. That's just over 32 oz., so if you drink that whole thing of water twice in a day, you've met the goal.

And, of course, doing stuff like going out drinking after work will add toxins and make you even more dehydrated. If you do that, chug some gatorade before you go to bed and be even more careful to drink as much water as possible the next day (and the same day as going out, if you know ahead of time that you will be going drinking).

In addition to the tips mentioned above, I would recommend exfoliation 3 times a week. I get more acne in the summer as well, I just make sure I up my water intake and exfoliate more. And always wear sunscreen when you're outside-the sun may temporarily dry up your skin, but in the long run it will lead to more acne. They make oil-free sunscreens especially for faces.
