(quote from the link) Take an inkjet printer, for example. Go online and you'll find printers available at incredibly low prices: $50 or less. That sounds like a great deal. But what it causes you not to focus on, says Harvard's David Laibson, one of the co-authors of the paper, is the fact that you're likely to spend $30 a month (or $360 a year) on ink for that printer if you print a relatively modest 300 pages per month. Hold onto the printer for three years, and you'll spend $1,000 on ink. That's shrouding. (end quote) That's not 'shrouding' - it's fucking life! Seriously, why do we need to invent a word for this and pretend it's new? This is just how life works.
print cartridges really are overpriced though....... granted creating a term for it is stupid but it'd be nice if they'd put the cost over time also, have standars page rates and whatever, cars have mpg....
It's not like they're stopping you finding out... It's just that lazy fags want the information printed on the shitty PC World shelf so they don't have to think about it before handing over their money.
if we all earned more money the economy would inflate and it would cost more....... yeah that was smart, seriously for the components they are made out of they cost to much, gas is overpriced because of speculation in the commodities market, people who play w\ paper getting rich off other people, pot is overpriced, grow you r own then, it's a weed for gods sake, and really even if everyone recycled their cartridges that would do nothing nothing at all, it's as naive to say that would help as to say trickle down economics is a good idea, you're assuming someone who's already happy to overcharge you won't line his pockets w\ your help with reduced manufacturing costs. stick that up your ass and ride it
Although I use a PC for internet,if I want to print a B/W page I simply save it as a full HTML of JPG file on to a floppy and print it off on a laser printer hooked up to my Mac 7200/120 that was given to me.Apparently these are not very expensive on the secondhand market. The printer has a Mac badge on it but I can see it is made by HP.
