when has anyone fought canada?we're just the quiet little country that sits around and does nothing. But I think that we all like it that way....eh?
All the Canucks I've met were pretty cool folks.btw: Canada has really good beer and buds. I'll be 30 in October so I don't have to worry about getting drafted. One good way to avoid the draft is to join the Coast Guard. In the Coast Guard you'll be protecting America and helping people stranded at sea. You'd learn seamanship get $ for college, plus you'll be able to enjoy America's scenic coastline.
Well, presumably we're going to fight now. See my above posts for my feelings about fighting Canadians.
No, I would not go. Ever heard of the War of 1812. Or how about the fact that Canada allowed slave holding Confedrate war criminals to escape into their country after their raid into St. Albans, Vermont. Lets not forget the looting of towns, raping of civilians and shooting of unarmed prisoners that Canadians along with other allies commited during both World Wars. I am not saying that Canadians are bad people, but I get sick and tired of you Canadians bashing us for being war mongers when your history is not much better.
Hey, I'm no history buff. I had no idea about those things. Guess I was wrong.... but to make it clear, I never bashed anyone. I guess that what I was getting at was that, from what I've learned about in recent history(1850 and on), was that Canada has never started anything, except fighting among our own country (as pathetic as that is), we always seem to come in later, and make allies with the most powerful just to stop anyone from kicking our butts later on. The US has always just seemed to play a prodominat role in everything. They never "started" anything in any of the world wars, either, but they had a very big part in them towards the end. The US has had a crappy history, but only from what I;ve learned in school and such, is that they were always more pro-war than anything. And to clear anything up now, I'm NOT saying that the whole country was pro-war, ever, but I really do not think that our history is nearily as bad as the US's. LikeI said, everything that I've every learnt has been in school, and we all know how schools are totally ridden with indoctrination. The US, though, in recent years, has become very publicly corrupt in it's war workings (among other things) and appears to just "help itself" to whatever country it likes. In my opinion, they had no right to waltz in and start a war with a completly sovereign counrty based all on false facts. We may have just as bad of a history in your standards, but recently, we haven't really done much. Our only involvment in this war has been on peace keeping missions, and we have even lost people because of americans killing us thinking we were the enemy. I can see how some Canadians would rant about the US.
teeny_tiny_little_me, My post wasn't directed at you as much as it was the Canadians who have been derogatory toward us. I also know that about what we were taught in school is usually one sided. When I was in the third grade I attended a Catholic school where we were taught that America has never been invaded on its own soil. The reason for this was that we were God's country. They never brought up the fact that the british burned our capital during the War of 1812. You will find that is very hard to get the facts because, they are always twisted just enough to change what actually happened. I do agree that our country has become corrupt but what can we do? If we vote Republican we are putting people into power who wants the goverment to control are lives. If we vote Democrat we are putting people into power who want to do good but, are so dumb they will lead us right down the toilet.(calling people stupid and unimportant because they didn't vote for you is not going to get you many votes in the next election)
Your reasoning is pretty unimpressive. Using the same logic Nazi Germany was no more of a warmonger than the US or Canada either. Please learn to accept the fact that the US is not perfect and criticism of it isn't the end of the world.
I'm almost to the point where they could lock me up in a padded room so i have no fear of being drafted as I would kill anyone around me the moment I got a gun.
There is no way in hell am I letting myself get drafted by a Republican dumbass to go fight for but not procure oil.
Nope. You remember Muhammad Ali? Played the Muslim card and did--what was it--five years in prison? Things haven't changed much. Also, do you really think that the right-wing cares if a homosexual or a pagan dies in a BS war? I'm surprized they don't pay them to die first. Draftees are around the age 18-20, usually because anyone older has a higher chance to rebel against orders. We're talking about people with family, careers, maturity. I don't think any of you older guys/gals should be afraid. Anyway, if I were drafted, I would move to the outskirts of Canada and get my name changed.
It is true that the 18-25 age group will be called first. But we all have family & friends that none of us want to see involved in this. I know I don't want to see any of my family forced into slavery to fight a war just to make some greedy assholes rich. We are all in this together young & old alike. And the price is dear!!!
I don't think it's right that only guys get drafted either. However if I were drafted, then I would go to jail before going to Iraq.
they won't get me. i will not be drafted. if i couldn't run, i would kill anyone who try'd to get me, before i killed anyone in iraq. i would stand at my door with a shotgun. this sounds perverse, but i will absolutly not go to war....
Depends on who were waring with. If someone made the T-virus, released it in some bigass city, and it spread everywhere intill the entire world was allied against the zombies, then, yes, I would fight. If aliens invaded, and were gonna extermanate all humans and animals to make way for there own people, then yes, I would fight. If the dark lord of Mordor ammased an army, then sent it to destroy the free peoples of the west, then yes, I would fight. If the French attac... Well, you get my drift. Times of pure science fiction/fanticy are the only times I would let my self get drafted.
