—by the Left Banke. Why in the name of 'woman & man unsaddled hard upon a warf' was this Great Song ever banned?

    Sensuously non-explicative - New Yorker

Leaves you to wonder - PTA, Iowa City, Iowa

I got a hard on & I don't even have one - Wall Street Journal

Yeah, they kicked The Doors off, made Mick mumble "lets spend the night together", wouldn't let Dylan perform "Talkin' John Birch Society Blues", etc etc. Fuckin' Ed Sullivan. :p

Yep, It was at the beginning. A lot of stations chickened out of playing it for some time. That was also something that went on. Sometimes they muffled it & re-released it for Air Play. Sometimes I wonder about the copies that were already sold were already out there or the dubbed versions. That's an interesting collectible market for any of these songs, if that could be documented that there are different versions out there either on old 45 RPM.

True about Ed Sulivan. There was a 'hmmm-nighgd-gether' version of Let's Spend the Night Together released after the original Stones recorded. England was more liberal than the US. And Radio was a lot more liberal than live performances by musicians during evening viewing hours. There was no MTV/VH1...

That's a big mark up here for LP's released on vinyl in England. I bet the same is true in England for stuff released here...
