My friend behind the glass, I fear I’m trapped in my own world again. I hear your voice and it stays with me. “Come out and play forever, friend!” They break their trust and turn away, One cycles to the next. They move on with their lives, And I am stuck inside my mind. The sound, the pulse, the flow, It drives me mad. Insane, I rave with pleasure, Unstable delight. Can you hear me from this far? I can feel you breathing, Closer in speech but farther in spirit. You promise me the moon. It waxes and wanes, Until it no longer shines. Dark with lies, the starlight spent, And I go on shining, flowing, burning, Leaving a scar somewhere, And you’re not there. Reality is my shadow. I cannot see the forest from the bards, From the princes, from the savages, From the ghosts of my past. There is a spirit in me and i beat it down, Blowing my mind and crying out, Until the night falls and all is well. Heaven and Hell, but where is the Earth? Where is the ground, the depth, the peace? My prize, the promise of release.
