Is it just me, or is there just a mass abundance of younger people (sophomore age and below) getting into hard drugs before they even touch weed? I usually hang out with a younger crowd, and my friend's brother kind of opened me up to this problem... one of his friends lives right next door to a meth lab, and is constantly bothered by him if he wants to buy some. meth labs are so dangerous, they can explode at any time, leveling entire houses and apartment complexs, as well as destroy the house or apartment that the lab was in, if it didn't blow up first. all those harder drugs, including prescription drugs, are fucking horrible and cause irreversible damage to your body... What happened to all the kids that smoked weed? sigh, do any of these future generations have common sense? somebody either please back me up or try and defend this shitty downward spiral...

im behind you, and ive seen it happen first hand in my school. Im a junior now and ive been smoking pot since early 8th grade and it seems to me that each year a new group of kids comes into highschool they get into the shit we wouldnt even touch. The epidemic now is occycodone which for those of you who dont know is pretty much prescition heroin. HAVE THEY LOST THEIR MINDS
not only is it extremely addictive and the withdrawl symtoms are something out of a science fiction book but these kids are ike 13 and 14. wtf mate ?

yeah i know what you mean. The media hardly ever talks about the kids snortin coke, poppin pills, and smoking meth...but tis non stop attention against pot smokers...its so fucked up. This country is so ass backwards, the drug agencies really need to focus on the harder more dangerous things.

my point exactly, shit, i totally agree with you jointman, the only reason pot is getting so much attention is becuase it is the most widely used illegal substance, not becuase it is not that bad for you. I've heard of 11 and 13 year old tweekers and meth addicts, it makes me shudder and wonder what the fuck is going through their minds...

to me, teen pregnancy is a way bigger issue then smokin a little weed now and then. abusers of crack, heroin, ex, RX's, speed, and even sex are more dangerous to society then smoking a little damn reefer...when will the damn govt learn.

The first drug i did was adderol (amphetamines).
I kinda disprove that whole gateway thingy (unless it works both ways, cause i did go from using hard drugs to just pot and maybe some pills everynowandthen.)

I think more people seem to be starting at harsher drugs, because in my school the harder drugs seem cheaper.... or at least some of them... like DMT is practicly free.

it really puzzles me as well, as to why younger people these days are getting into harsher and hasher drugs that will eventually kill them if they dont stop. I swear that if they decriminalize marijuana, and focus more on thoughs other drugs that actually people could overdose on, then america would have less of a drug problem. I honestly dont understand our government...

I gotta disagree, there's a lot of talk about meth, and kids doing it. That's one of the biggest problems. Sure, law enforcement and all that still attack weed (because its still the most common and usually most easily gotten) but there is recognition about the problem of meth. And I know here where I live (and the US in generall too, but to a lesser extent) heroin is becoming a big problem, the fastest growing drug used in the county. It's a ton cheaper and a ton purer, and kids here have money anyways.

as far as why they're doing it? maybe because weed is becoming more accepted and the forbidden fruit deal pushes them towards more dangerous stuff. I disagree somewhat with rhasta, decriming pot and focusing the Drug War on other drugs won't really help. It will to an extent because all the money and police won't be wasted on weed, but people will always do these things. education (TRUTHFUL education, not propoganda) is the way to go, never prohibition. Maybe that's the problem, kids hear all the horrors of drugs, and don't believe it to be true (given the government's track record with truth in general, and in specific with weed). Add to that the rather gloomy times we live in and you can see why people might be attracted to something that promises an easy, if somewhat dangerous, escape.

    i dunno about u guys

but in vancouver it's ALL about Meth now, not like there was any focus on weed in the first place lol

but seriously, every tv channel almost has stories on meth users or just meth itself

kinda scary how outa controll meth is getting [or so it seems by the media]

they should find programs for people on meth to do constructive things and get payed.. then they can get more meth and be more productive! lol

atm the big drug ad is about speed over here

its too expensive for me, fuck.

Well, up here they damn cops focus on weed. It pisses me off man. There are about as many methheads as potheads, but the potheads are the ones allways getting targeted. Why dont they focus on the harder drugs and just leave us potheads alone?
I mean everyone i know that smokes pot is respectable and decent, but the methheads are fucking losers, stealing and conning everyone they can.

the problem is that meth and other such synthetic drugs are easier to produce and in some instances to obtain than weed.

Thats the one thing I like about my school. Drugs in general ARE growing in popularity, but the drug of choice is overwhelmingly marijuana (well, its actually alcohol, but thats normal. Weed comes in second.) There really is almost no herion and cocaine, and I've never heard of anyone using or even talking about meth.

i hate meth. ive seen first hand what happens to meth users and its not pretty at all. if they would just turn the attention away from pot and more towards other drugs, the levels and statistics would probably go down. perscription drugs are the #1 most abused drugs right now (if im right), why dont they focus on them?

the government really needs to understand what the real problems are and stop trying to make weed seem like their biggest problem.

that is very true, i must agree more with you on this now. I remember have a talk in my english class about the recent heroin problem that was going on around school, and their idea of what the safest way to stop the drug problem, was to just stop harrasing the kids in high school, and spend more on the younger children from ever starting. That would be the best solution.

if pot became legal then there would be so much industry base around keeping stoned people entertained that hopefully less people would want to move on.

but whats the deal, is speed cheaper than weed in some places? a gram of goe around here costs around 50 bucks, giv or take 10. weed is 20. for these basic prices, i would much rather get 50 bucks (an 8th) of weed than a gram of goey since itll keep me good for heaps longer and be able to share and everything
