Is/was anyone here afraid of graduation, either high school or college? For the last 3 years I've been counting the days till I get to leave(not literally) and now that I am entering my last school year, I'm scared shitless. I got this letter in the mail today, telling me that my appointment for my senior pictures is set, and that I have to go take them. I know it seems trivial, but it was a real slap in the face. It's as if I never realized I was going to graduate untill now. If anyone else had this problem, how did you cope with it?

theres no good way to cope- just try to not let it bother you for a few months. enjoy your senior year. in about 10 months- then worry. For now, focus on chilling with your friends, having a fun summer, then applying to colleges, planning a trip, finding a job- whatever youre doing next year.

But heres how i kept calm: you made it through high school, college will be so much better! Yes- youre not giong to speak to most of these people ever again- but youre true friends you will. Those who you lose touch with? Obviously werent good friends so who gives a shit? This whole public-school-education part of my life is over now, true- but life has phases. THis one is through, and its time to move on to what should be much bigger and better things.

All in all? this is good.

(figure out something like that for yourself. and just stay calm. you get to stress out with the rest of the graduating class at the end of the year, i promise :) )

To be honest, it's rather the opposite for me.

I know the future holds great things but for all of highschool I've really been enjoying it, not wanting to leave because I love everyone I'm surrounded with..but right now, nothing could be better for me than having graduated this year. Alot of things have happened, and I really just want to journey to my heart's content.

I think graduation will hit people because it's such a turning point in life..some are ready and some aren't as much..I think you just really have to make the best of things and go with the flow...which is a great way to handle things

i wasnt too sketched out about graduating, then i started hearing talk of the draft being re-enacted, and quite frankly, it started to scare the hell out of me. other than that, im looking forward to it. ill have a lot more time to focus on music. yeah, music. thats where its at. i hope we(the band im in) make it. sorry i wasnt helpful.

i wasn't so scared to graduate but to leave my friends and the security i'm have where everything is pretty much set and the biggest problems in life are the nasty rumors going around about you. but i know that what i'm about to embark on will be so wonderful. its just the goodbyes that are hard. we (my graduating class) had an all nighter after graduation and when everyone was leaving in the morning it was just odd to watch them go out the door and know they aren't a part of my life anymore, but a lot was odd that night. like that i fell asleep for an hour in the ski ball game and this annoying kid made the most blunt move he's made on me yet (like anything could happen...).

anyways, don't be afraid. when i was deciding where to go for college i considered going to school near my best friend. and it made me feel comfortable but then i realized i'd never be happy if i didn't go my own way. and all of my best friends and i are staying in close touch, wether over the internet or through snail mail and visits or whatever. have fun. and do all the activities there are for your last year. really live it up, because it seems too short in the end.
