so the day before yesterday me and my fiance made love. i woke up yesterday feeling like i had a UTI. i get them a few times a year, so i know what they feel like. i thought i might be able to just nip it in the bud and cure it at home with cranberry, vitamin C, lots of fluids, etc. but it just keeps getting worse! it really hurts today. it hurts when i need to pee. it hurts while i'm peeing. it hurts AFTER i pee. it hurts to sit down, too. also it hurts to bend over. i HATE it. and i'm working right now and i can't get out of work so last minute. i guess i'll go to the promptcare (aka 24 hour walkin medical clinic) tomorrow. it sukcs because i have to pee like every 15 minutes and it hurts! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! crotch pain is the worst kind of pain to endure, in my opinion. bleeeehhhhhck.

UTIs suck. Definitely go to the doc and get antibiotics, if you don't clear up a UTI it can develop into something serious. And always remember to urinate within 15 minutes after sex, every time I've ever gotten a UTI (as an adult) it's because I didn't use the bathroom after intercourse.

Autch. It's horrible. I had a bladder infection a few times and it's such suffering.
I don't use antibiotics so I have been checking different natural remedies.
What worked best for me is Horsetail tea and sitting baths. Best is if you can pick it fresh, but it is also available as plant extract.
Hope you get well soon. :)

Ive had that kind of pain before, but somehow I flushed it out drinking TONS of cranberry juice. That's all I drank for a few days...and it went away.

Also, remember to pee before and after sex... it decreases the chances of UTIs
i'm sure you already knew that though :-D

not sure what uti's are, in australia we call them std's? anyway drink some chamomile tea, wear a condom and see a doctor. after you've taken the course of anti biotics wait a couple of days after taking the the entire course and then take some acidophilus to sort you stomach out

Cipro is a little overkill for an uncomplicated UTI. Cipro is the "end of the line" medicaion before IV antibiotics and should only be used when other antibiotics have failed AND a sensitivity study has been done to determine the bacteria which is causing the UTI.

It's a good thing to do, but it is not a guarentee that you won't get a UTI.

Usually Sulfa or a cephalpsporin (like Ceclor or Keflex) is used for a UTI. Cipro is the Big Guns are reserved for superinfections, and resistant bacteria.

See a doctor and take the meds until they are ALL GONE! Don't stop as soon as you feel better, because you will just help create antibiotic resistant bacteria, as well as cause yourself to need a stronger antibiotic to treat the left over, stronger bac.

These suckers really hurt. Lots of water, cranberry is fine. But please see a doctor, as these can become chronic and that is really painful.

I hope you are feeling better.

guy, stds are Sexually Transmitted Diseases. This isn't what the poster has.

a UTI is a urinary tract infection and it has nothing to do with sexually transmitted diseases, you chode. don't give advice when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. for your info, a UTI is caused when any kind of bacteria (which can be bacteria from anywhere around the vagina, on a penis, or on your hands) gets up into the urethra (your pee hole, dummy). it has nothing to do with wearing condoms. it can be brought on by sex, but it is not an STD. get a clue.

by the way, i wasn't able to get medical treatment over the holiday weekend (suck) so the infection migrated into my kidneys. i'm on 10 days of antibiotic treatment. the posters who say they got rid of their infections the natural way are LUCKY. but alas, it didn't work for me. hopefully i'll get better soon.

aww, sonador, he was just trying to help. he thought you were refering to something else, and was unsure of himself, as he did put a question mark after std. i know it was prolly just the annoyance of the UTI talking there, im sure you won't be so mad at guy when it clears
good luck getting rid of it, and i hope work isnt too painful for you
