you know, i have seen more than one post on these forums about hitler. and hardly anybody ever mentions anne frank. she was one of the people that hitler helped to send to an early grave. her diary that she wrote for two years (while hiding in an attic with her family--to hopefully wait out the end of the war) may not be the most exciting thing to read. but that's not the point. she was just trying to survive. and still hoping to find some beauty in a world that was fast becoming an ugly place. where as somebody like hitler only liked to control and destroy. and people did not truly matter to him. his ego always came first.

so i would have to say it makes more sense to study somebody like anne frank. try and find out how she hung onto her great spirit, and didn't let somebody like hitler destroy that. she will always be the stronger of the two. yet more books, movies, and television series are about hitler instead. just wanted to offer you my two cents. i'm not an especially smart guy. never made it to college or anything. just an average joe. but i just wondered what all the interest in hitler is for? i think hitler only made the world a bad place to be. while anne frank only wanted it to be better.

    "History Repeats Itself"

"learn not from the victim, They have failed, but by the Predator they have succeeded, learn the innards of their thoughts, take them down by their own weaknesses"

Anne frank told a heart wrenching story of survival, but if you want to prevent the world from having another hitler than its better to educate the populus of hitler than anne frank she didnt really do much except try to survive. like everybody else (Even hitler)

Plus, how are you supposed to tell the story of anne frank without hitler?, thats like Lil red riding hood without the Big Bad Wolf

i see what you're saying. but it seems like even with all the attention being paid to hitler, it has not stopped history from repeating itself. we still have war and even genocide going on in the world. i guess my fear is that too many unstable people might see all the media attention as a sign of power, and think that hitler is somebody to admire. same thing goes with people like charlie manson. where as anne frank and sharon tate don't even get half the attention.

I think that people discuss Hitler more than Anne Frank is because he has effected the lives of millons of people and the diary of Anne Frank is a personal story. It has nothing to do with glorifying a person that caused a lot of suffering, but trying to understand history. People also discuss Jesus, or Ghandi, or other historical figures that have chosen a non violent, loving path in life that influenced the course of history.

but isn't anne frank also a part of our history? you say her diary is a personal thing. sorry, i don't agree with that. it represents many, many other people just like her that were destroyed by a madman. she was only a symbol of that. so it's not really just one person's story. even if it is a diary. yet how many books about hitler are there? and compare that to the number of ones about anne frank. also, think about the number of books about charlie manson. and then try and find something about sharon tate (i only found one book). i am just wondering why we would rather read things about disturbed people, and not give as much thought to somebody that is a more positive force?

Yes, Anne Frank and her story is also part of history and there were many people that have been in similar situations at that time.
What I was trying to say was, that she hasn't effected the lifes of millions of other's like Hitler did and that that is imo the reason why more people talk about him than her.

Hitler was more fascinating because he was a nobody who came from nowhere to fuck up everyone, everywhere.
