Where I'm living right now, way up in northern BC, they probably make up about a quarter of the population.

As far as reserves go, I have almost nothing positive to say for them. Imagine a brilliant culture ruined by alcohol (i believe that somewhere around 60% of the local reserves have some kind of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). Seriously, the ditches are full of beercans, there is plenty of incest and rape, i've seen mothers giving pepsi and beer to toddlers to keep them quiet, hundreds of people in poverty because of the corruption of their chiefs.

Not that there isn't a huge anti-native sentiment in town. But I find it a pretty ignorant view to hate them for living off the government.
