Has anyone read this one or his other book, Way Out Here: Modern Life in Ice-Age Alaska?

I don't read alot of books, but found his first book Edges of the Earth to be an easy read. It changed my outlook on the idea of completely escaping society. Don't get me wrong... I will one day soon, escape to a more serene, less urban place, but the extremes of homesteading may be a bit much. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago makes me want to stay somewhat connected to the here and now. I figure somewhere a couple hours from a larger city will be ideal. I've had my eye on places like Flagstaff or Yakima.
