you cant back comb them out... you can forward comb them out though.

first time i dreaded mine i used loads of wax and i decided to brush it out the next day... took me from about 9 at night till 1 in the morning (and i didnt have particuarly long hair either) and LOTS of conditioner.

    paifull too.

I know you can comb em out, but I have never tried. I have been told it takes a long time and you hafta use lots of conditioner and de-tangler. I would imagine that it is quite painful too.

i would never comb mine out because i think id be too grossed out by the amount of dead hair that comes out lol. i realize its on your head the whole time, but seeing it falling out on the floor would be gross, lol

yah thats what i meant- by combing them out. my dreads are about 2 and some years old- how long do you pholks think it would take? does hair go back to normal once it's been combed out. Id imagine it would look really fucked up and damaged. i think this will take a few days and be quite emotional.

i had my dreads combed out. There were like 3 people working on it. It took a long time and my head was sore. It does take A LOT of conditioner and patience. My hair was pretty thin and weak after but it wasn't all nasty or anything. Slowly but surely its getting healthier

You will prolly wanna cut the dread before combing em out. Think about it, I would say you hair is prolly atleast twice as long as your dreads...

yeah.. i dont know- the whole situation is so confusing. i want to comb my dreads out to grow new, natural ones. (my current ones were started from braids) Just thinking about the time it will take to comb them out and wait for the hair to become healthy again makes me dizzy, and also just the fact of getting rid of them makes me sad. but the way i see it is do it now, or just keep the ones I have for ever but be constantly unhappy with them.

i'd say go for the natural ones. sure it'll take a lot of time and patience. but isn't that what our dreadlocks are about? going through a journey?

I once combed some baby dreads outta my hair after deciding that I didn't want to conform to the dread population. It hurt and it took fucking ages!
