PILSENKRAUT/henbane

i heard about a drink called pilsenkraut its beer made with henbane and not hops doesn anyone one know about henbane i looked at erowid and it didnt have much also where do you think i could get henbane?

 

The german name for Henbane is Bilsenkraut (lat. Hyoscamus niger)
In the middle ages it had been used instead of hops, or in addition to hops to brew beer.
It's effects are similar to Belladonna and other night shade plants and it is a common ingredient in witch pastes.
Because of the hallucinogenic effects and mainly because an overdose leads to paralisation of the nervous system and to death, it got forbidden to use as in ingredient in beers in 1516 in the german purity law (Reinheitsgebot).
The name Pilsner (certain type of german beer) is coming from the name of that herb as well.
