is anyone here into goatrance? i know a few people who really like it and i was wondering if people here on the boeard like it aswell.

i'm sure there people who don't like it cause it's made with a computer or something electronic. so what do you think of goatrance?

It did turn into Psytrance in the later 1990's...but I find that Goa (late 80's-early 90's) and Psy (late 90's - current) are 2 totally different listening experiences.

I therefore classify them as different genres.

A computer is much a "musical instrument" as anything else; a wooden tabletop can be a musical instrument if it allows for the outpouring of musical creativity from within. A tool is just a tool-- it's all in how you use it! :)

With that said, I like goa and psytrance quite a bit, but not as much as dub or ambient...

yeah you're right, everything can be a music instrument (i changed it in my first post)
i only think that some people don't like it because it is so electronic...

Yes, an unfortunate bias-- somehow because music is electronic it's somehow less authentic or valid. I have a couple friends who feel this way, and despite all my attempts to understand their point of view I really can't. Certainly there's some electronic music that comes across as sounding cold, mechanical, lifeless, etc.; that doesn't mean that all electronic music sounds that way. Hm, one could just as easily make those accusations about completely acoustic orchestral/chamber works of various 20th-century composers! :)

    Quoting myself from another thread.
    Just in case....

There is an online shop called Saikosounds that sells Goa-Trance CDs and provides four minute samples of the tracks.
Check releases by the Dragonfly, Flying Rhino, or Blue Room label and artist names such as Pleiadeans, KoxBox, Man with no name, Doof, TIP, Hallucinogen, Juno Reactor... to name just a few.
And keep one thing in mind: this music likes to be played loud ;)
