I'm really not great at reviews of any kind but I'll see if I can express myself here.

I had a GREAT weekend. The festival was extremely well run, thanks to all those who work so hard to make Hookahville happen. The stage was beautiful. The sound was great, and loud. I wasn't so sure about having just one video screen but came to prefer it, didn't need to keep looking back and forth from the screen to the stage.

Early bird appeared to me to be the busiest one ever. Whether that's because word has eventually gotten out, or Friday is much easier for everyone, or a number of people didn't realize the date had changed and showed up early, or having music did it I don't know, but it was fun to have so much going on. I was at the Bluegrass stage for quite awhile, there were some sweet jams going on there.

The rain didn't come until quite late Friday, pretty much happened while I slept...and the next day, Saturday, it threatened all day but hardly rained at all and after that, PERFECT weather for the weekend.

Saturday I spent time running errands around the fest, looking in on the bands (didn't miss any of the Wailers - they had a GREAT high energy set), and checking out Shakedown. I was really glad to see familiar vendors back - Grateful Grill, Phresh Burrito, Disco Pizza, etc...and some interesting new additions that look like they normally work state fairs (can you say "Pork Butt on a Stick"?). The sandwich place I first saw at the Ledges in April was there too with incredible BBQ. I enjoyed the merch vendors too....I lost my sunglasses and got 3 for $20 - saved my day and made that of two friends too. Nice selection of glass and dresses and whatnot as well.

By hookah's set on Saturday night I've already been at Hookahville for more than 24 hours, having a blast of course....but when Hookah starts I remember what the MOST FUN of the weekend always is!!!!!! Springtime is just the right tune to start, and Utopia got me running down front. Life is Good with Particle was ideal. Got an Alexander II, in my top 3 tunes. Beautiful Seagull and energetic And When I Die. Water Bearer has incredible potential....gotta love Dave's trippier songs and this one looks like a doozy.

Saturday night had me visiting all over the fest enjoying campfires, bluegrass, guitars and friends.

Sunday was a busy one for me. Helping get the scavenger hunt together (Jenni did a GREAT job!!), checking out the Hookah Fans for Food goings-on (I heard they shattered collection records for both food and cash) and hanging out in my hammock kept me quite busy. I did see a lot of Ralph Stanley and some Galactic and RRFB too. Couldn't stand the heat for all day out at the stage though, I had to come and go. Also had a couple of Villevirgin friends arrive that day, they'll be back Smile Smile Smile

Saturday night hookah.......great stuff. Motorcycle Mama was really fun, Set 2 starts with SLIPJIG, loved all the covers. I'm looking forward to getting a copy of the show from Pelican Publishing whenever they have it for sale online.

Sunday night included the usual madness, again stopped by the late night stage in time to see Steve play with Drew E. Whoever had the late night stage idea - you deserve a medal, that's great stuff.

I tried to extend Hookahville as long as I possibly could by staying up till daylight but alas, all good things must come to an end.

Thank you API and hookah and everyone for a fantastic weekend!!!!!

    Liz
